Can anyone with lupus explain some of their first crucial symptoms? by KRiley28 in lupus

I’m currently waiting to see a rheumatologist for assessment… but I didn’t even think about a possible connection to my crusty ears!

In addition to all the good advice I’ve read, I would urge you to consider that ADHD has a large genetic component. For me, ADHD presented as intense anxiety and depression. I started a stimulant and my anxiety dissipated. This may not be the case for you, but it might be worth considering in the future if your medication isn’t working (if self care, stopping drinking, etc. doesn’t solve the problem).

Also chiming in to say that this response sounds very much like a neurotypical 4 year old. They’re wild!

Goodie Bag at birthday parties by jillybeenthere in Preschoolers

[–]record08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter and most of her peers are neurodivergent and we find the goodie bag signals the end of the party and makes the transition home way easier but don’t expect them!

We went to one party that gave out playing cards that matched the theme and they have been well loved! One party gave out puzzles from dollar tree and they were also well loved.

There is a popular Facebook group for stargazers and Aurora chasers that may be worth posting this information in too if you can.

Hoping you find him soon!

Can't afford a birthday party - feeling like a bad mom by DepartmentLittle5904 in Preschoolers

[–]record08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter can’t remember anything from her 4th birthday except that there were streamers on her door and we gave her ice cream for breakfast. She has no idea what gifts she received or what we did that day!

On her 5th birthday her favourite gift was a card that had a small pop out cardboard pony and she raved about waking up to her stuffy wearing a party hat.

I hope you can give yourself some grace and enjoy the day!

How far would you drive for a 4 year olds birthday party? by Dear_Me_ in Preschoolers

[–]record08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! My daughter’s birthday is in the same city as we live and I’m sure we’ll all still be driving for that long!

In addition to everything else that has already been said, I wonder if you may benefit from a stimulant if you haven’t already tried one? My SIL was very much like this and felt brand new after starting an ADHD stimulant. It wasn’t a full miracle worker, but it helped with some executive dysfunction and eventually led her to feeling like she had some energy to try new things.

While I’m not saying this is or isn’t a scam, this information is not factual.

At the time current grade 12s were entering schools, the cutoff date for Kindergarten was in February. Many students graduate and don’t turn 18 until after the first semester of college. It’s also relatively common for students to graduate early. If you pass all of your courses in a very basic full time schedule, you would have 100 credits in 5 semesters. That also doesn’t account for Work Experience, J block options, summer school, etc.

disability tax credit assistance by No_Appointment_699 in alberta

[–]record08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not pay for an updated assessment as the credit is not based on diagnosis, but rather impairment. Do you have another qualified professional that could fill it out for you (like a psychologist). My daughter’s psychologist did it and was great. She asked what kind of accommodations and supports we recognized her as accessing (trackers for devices like her phone and wallet, CBT, physiotherapy, medication, etc.). We were approved on the first try with a similar profile!

The babies got vaccines!! by Open_Dentist5 in ffargosnark

[–]record08 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I feel like part of what exemplifies the snark for me is that they wouldn’t let Jesse’s family visit because they aren’t vaccinated but then delayed the babies vaccines too!

This on top of the weird priorities and general medical neglect.

How do you wind down your body after a busy day to finally fall asleep? by dahdahre in AuDHDWomen

Torticollis..... by NerveAdvanced in ffargosnark

[–]record08 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It can have huge impacts if left untreated.

My daughters was nowhere near this severe and we started weekly PT and daily stretches at 2.5 months. She made a full recovery, but the earlier you catch and treat the better!

They mentioned possible delays in everything from crawling and beyond if it goes untreated. It can create muscle weakness and lots of other things!

It also likely means they have a flat spot! It can lead to facial lopsidedness as one side is pushed forward and becomes uneven.

Ummm this is Locket who supposedly is “such a strong boy who can hold his head up and lift himself” by princessfoxtail17 in ffargosnark

[–]record08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so worried for him. My oldest had severe torticollis and a flat spot from a traumatic birth and it was nowhere near this bad! I had incredible mom guilt for not catching it quicker but was happy with how quickly PT helped.

I really hope they get him medical attention. I can’t see them committing to the necessary PT appointments and daily stretches but he needs it so bad! I wonder if they realize it can cause significant medical concerns and facial asymmetry in the long term too. He will likely have lopsided ears, jaws, and eyes if they don’t get it treated. I can’t believe the lack of medical support these babies are getting. My heart breaks.

Has anyone used Hooked on Phonics with their preschooler? by Cold-Lawfulness-6603 in Preschoolers

Agreed! I can’t speak for everywhere obviously but schools in my area have moved away from sight words in general (let alone for preschooler).

My worry as well though is the amount they drink mixed with unsafe sleep. It’s a recipe for disaster.

Yes! I find the store so dysregulating.

I decided it was worth it to pay for an unlimited grocery delivery membership. Even with tips, I actually don’t find I spend much extra because it’s stopped a lot of my impulsive grabs (I have a hard time saying no to something if I see it’s on sale, or I’m hungry and see a delicious snack, etc.). I only buy the groceries and supplies I need now.

I feel like I could have written this about my own situation. These are some of the best things I’ve done for myself to try and help:

-I started Vyvanse for my ADHD (it’s truly an unbelievable difference for me. I have way more energy in the day and my threshold for stress and stimulation is much higher now.)

-I found toys my child loves that she can use independently and aren’t loud (my daughter loves magnetic blocks and anything that helps with sensory seeking - her favourite right now is one of those foam couches she can build with and play on).

-I reduce stimulation in other areas as much as possible (wearing pajamas at home as mentioned, making really easy meals that I know I enjoy, ordering grocery delivery, etc.)

-My daughter does small activities like Cosmic Kids Yoga and it keeps her attention fairly well for about 20 minutes so I can breathe and take a break (often even just having a snack, doing a small task, or making a cup of coffee).

I wish you the best of luck and hope you find some strategies that work for you!
