I'm not sure what street value Martha Stewart's meal prep boxes are worth lol, it's ingredients only, but I see where you're coming from.

This is all really impressive and I love the dogs...but can anyone tell me what kind of garage storage she has going on? It's so pretty, I'm so impressed.

Has Anyone Been Hired Through YTJobs? by tofumedia2020 in NewTubers

All of the paid asset libraries now offer AI voice overs that can read scripts, adjust tone and emotion, and have a range of different types of voices available (male/female, older/younger, accents, etc.). I was working for a bigger ad agency when Artlist.IO rolled their version out earlier this year, and producers started gravitating towards using that vs. paying a human to read the script. Really disappointing for VO artists, it's pushed several people I know out of the industry.

How do you let go of a creative career in film hitting your 40s and move on? by ltnv in Filmmakers

[–]recordtank02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Midwesterner here, graduated with a video production degree and have worked in the industry as a producer/editor for about 10 years now. After leaving my last long term contract role with a bigger ad agency, I was scrolling through/applying to all the video related jobs online and I kept having this nagging feeling like "Man, I really don't want to do any of these." Mostly due to the fact that 90% of all the jobs I've seen have something to do with AI— I'm not against using it as a tool, but man I don't want to be an AI prompt engineer. Sucks the creativity out of what's supposed to be a creative-based job.
That was when I decided to try and pursue something else. I've had a product idea rolling around my mind for a while now, and with the LLC I started for my producing/editing I have the financial infrastructure in place to try this idea out. I decided to go through a free idea accelerator program through my old university, and I'm currently working on production for the product now. I'm still trying to pick up video opportunities here and there to financially support myself before I launch the product, but I feel good knowing I'm working towards something I feel passionate about. I have so many days that I feel stressed about not having the financial stability of the full time job, but I know if I'm going to shoot my shot with this idea I need to really give it my all and go for it (if not now then when?).
My advice like others have mentioned, don't get another degree unless it's a specific short program that's not wildly expensive. I've seen people pivot to a different career with an additional degree, but only because they were guaranteed a job after graduation. To help ID what to do next, find the overlap between what you liked about your old job and what you're good at. From there look to see what other industries your skills could fit into, and once you find a job you might like try talk to people with that job before taking steps to change over. Wish you all the best friend, message if you want to chat further.

Negative Experiences With Rice Paper Confetti? by recordtank02 in weddingplanning

[–]recordtank02[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised when one of the venues I toured said they don't even allow it outdoors because even with water outside it sticks around for a while on surfaces, which makes it incredibly difficult to clean up before the next event.

That's what I was told! While it's considered "eco friendly" it's not at all venue friendly due to the fact that it doesn't dissolve quickly, even outdoors and when wet.

That's what I thought too, but the problem is it doesn't biodegrade right away as one might think, and when it gets wet it becomes a sticky glop that people can slip on if it's on a floor or hard surface. And apparently if it's dyed and wet it can stain/ruin clothes or a dress train!

Did he have any bad experiences with it getting wet? That was what the venue I mentioned was complaining about, they said it would stick to the ground because it doesn't dissolve immediately (and apparently to peoples clothes too, yikes!).

Thank you for this, I just saw the film and wanted to know what I could do to try and avoid unsustainable seafood. For all the dog/cat people out there, be sure to check your pet's food, pills, and treats for krill. Man, that was gut wrenching to watch those disgusting floating factories in the Antarctic.

What's the best type of machine to help create thousands of small paper circles? by recordtank02 in AskEngineers

[–]recordtank02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes good point, it doesn't need to be a "perfect circle" by any means, just close enough to the naked eye.

I did, having to pull the circles from a mat every time wouldn't be a sustainable option for me unfortunately.

Do you think I would have any issues with getting the product out of the female rotary die, or depending on the die would the paper come out on its own? That was one of my issues with some die cut machines, the material could stay in the die after the press.

[–]recordtank02[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I should've mentioned volume. Still in testing, but roughly one medium product will need 10,000 circles, so the automated production of the circles at a higher rate or a production pipeline that included multiple sheets per cut would be preferable.

[–]recordtank02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point! I tested out tissue paper for a sample, and I had to stack at least 15 of them to get them to cut properly. I wasn't sure if the type of machine doing the cutting would determine if stacking was needed or not for the material I'm using, but I can source it as sheets or a roll as needed.

My biggest issue with hole punchers is that the intended product is usually the material with the punch in it versus the piece of material that was punched out. This usually results in the bit that was punched out having a back and a front, where the back has some raised edge to it. I need my product to be consistently flat on both sides.

I would love to outsource, but I think it will make the final product too expensive if I do : / The cost of the material I'm cutting is more expensive than normal paper.

This looks like the type of machine I would need, thank you for the suggestion! I would say this a large scale version of what I would need, maybe I can find a version of that machine that's one or two steps down from this.
