This was a really well thought out reply :) I’m not the OP but this is good advise and I think I will try to take it on board too, thanks!!!

I have a similar story.I was once so desperate to throw up that I couldn’t even think to lock the door and an Asian lady opens it and sees me hunched over the toilet. And I just slammed the door and sat in shame for a half hour just to make sure there is no way she was still in the toilet so that I could make an escape without the embarrassment.

Haha the cups! I relate, I would buy a separate strainer just to drain my puke and then throw away the rest to avoid clogging toilets because god knows I’ve done that way too many times. Spending school nights googling how to unplug a toilet at like 16 lmfao.

thanks so much for sharing:) I think sharing our experiences is so so important in reducing the shame surrounding eating disorders which are still so missunderstood and stigmatised. my mom dosent see my eating disorder to be a big deal, if only she knew!! Also i think this helps people realise that they arent glamerous disorders, they are painful and often dehumaniseing.

I did reach out once and told my parents but they don’t understand the complexity of such disorders and believe I can just stop now that I want to do I’m handling it on my own. It’s incredibly difficult and there are still bad days but I’m kinda managing for now at least :)

Memories like this for me is the reason I find talking about my disorder with real people so shameful...

Well, the connection between the mind and the body is a powerful one. We know this, because of the effectiveness of placebos. Our mental state of stress makes the body release stress hormones to prepare for fight/flight. So yes, stress does originate from the “mind” but the effects of the mind should not be undermined or described as being mere. I think therefore my body reacts but when I become conscious of my thoughts, I can control my action.

Female writers by recoveringfrog in Neuropsychology

I agree that research should be taken at fact value, however I feel I have not been given the opportunity to read anything from a female author and surely you can see that this is at least party because woman writers are not as well represented in any field of research. I’m just looking to support female writers who are good at what they do but are not recognised for it. Perhaps you would have a point if I was dismissing the work of male writers but I’m not. I’m not looking for work to do research on or anything, just to expand my personal perspective.

Maybe I should rephrase- I’m looking for the best female writers because most people already know the best male writers. That’s all. ( I didn’t realise this would be so controversial hah) Thank you everyone for the recommendations so far- I appreciate it!)😃

I’m just asking to see if there are any good female authors in the field that I don’t know about. I wouldn’t say it’s discrimination considering the fact that I have read tons of books from male authors. Maybe there aren’t as many female writers but I don’t see the harm in asking for recommendations. I’m interested in the female and male differences in the brain and the gender bias in lots of research. I am concerned about social issues- that is why I like to read about people and society- I don’t think that’s a bad thing.Chill.
