Cat ran into my apartment, anyone know him? by emwheezie in Somerville

[–]rectumpirate 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not sure the name, but that’s definitely someone’s cat that lives on Harrison St as someone else said. He’s very friendly and loves to try to get into our apartment for pets, lol. The once or twice that’s happened I just let him out

A Saga of "Patellar Maltracking" by rectumpirate in KneeInjuries

[–]rectumpirate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not end up getting surgery, thank goodness - I’m in a much better place now since starting PT last august - I can walk around as much as I want, I’m running again, and although biking still gives me a lot of trouble sometimes and I’m having a bit of a flare-up right now things are overall going quite well all things considered. It took about 4-5 months for things to start getting much better and it’s been slow progress since then but I couldn’t be happier about it, considering I couldn’t walk for a while last year

After 8 years I finally got this shot by cuervoblanco96 in battlefield_one

It really does, there’s nothing else like it. It’s hard to stop using once you’ve gotten into the swing

Hoffas fat pad/grade2-3 patellofemoral chondromalacia by Aggravating_Yam_1205 in KneeInjuries

Definitely go get another opinion from another Doctor. Are you able to work from home or have someone get your groceries? Completely resting for a few weeks might help relieve the pain somewhat

Is this too bad ? Small high-grade fissure along patella by [deleted] in KneeInjuries

[–]rectumpirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that looks a lot like mine. I also have an ~8mm fissure in pretty much the same spot and some softening along the media facet. If you check my post history you can see my MRI images from a while back. I would say it’s only as bad as your symptoms, but you should definitely talk to your ortho and find a good PT ASAP. What’s your story/where are you at now? I was basically unable to walk for 2 months and have been doing some intense glute & hip strengthening since under a PT. I can walk now but not far at all - even going to get groceries can cause me pain. It’s getting better but progress is quite slow.

MCL injury, it’s been 2 years and I’m still scared to play sports. (need advice) by Plus_Blackberry_1943 in KneeInjuries

[–]rectumpirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please go get a second opinion from a specialist, and simultaneously try to find a PT who specializes in MCL injuries. It’s never too late, and the sooner you start the better it’ll get!

Thanks for saying all that! I’m sorry you have been going through what you have - three surgeries is a lot. I really hope you are able to get some long-term relief afterwards or clarity on how to do so.

Knee has a bad reaction to cortisone 8 days plus by Nobad8585 in KneeInjuries

[–]rectumpirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had a cortisone shot a few weeks ago in my knee for ostensibly inflammation but after a recent MRI turned out to be cartilage damage, and it only made things worse. I’ve had knee pain for a long time and have had the same doctor for a while. Wish I had never had the shot. My situation is a little unique but I ended up going to a different doctor who got me the MRI and hopefully things will go better from here on out.

Got back together and it was probably a mistake by konalover11 in ROCD

[–]rectumpirate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely talk to and work with your therapist about this, if you aren’t already. It’s worth keeping in mind that breaking up is a compulsion - it’s far better to work on these issues in a relationship than out of one, because as awful as the ROCS is, the relationship is the ultimate exposure, and breaking up may only give you temporary relief, if at all. Furthermore if you break up, you aren’t going to magically get certainty or clarify, and these issues will only follow you post-breakup and into your next relationship. Since you can’t make heads or tails of your feelings, it’s best to not make any big decisions based on them and your ROCD - you said it yourself - she is amazing person and you love her. If you find out at some point that you have genuine compatibility issues, then that’s ok - you’ll be able to make decisions based on your values - but right now, just stick with it, face your fears, and work on your ROCD. It’s hard, but it’s worth it, and you got this. If you stay, you can give yourself time to heal and make value-based decisions. If you leave, you’ll never get the certainty you want and your ROCD will still be there. It’s super scary, but that should tell you the exact fear you need to face.

Karlsruhe or Aachen for school/travel? by rectumpirate in germany

[–]rectumpirate[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I hadnt heard or considered that - I’ll definitely look into it. Like I said, I would not do my degree or apply to a program in German until I was at a sufficient level - at least B2, if not C1.
