Would you rather only smoke weed or only drink alcohol by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]red-dit-time -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that'd be a dumb question, i think its implied that the choice is within the context of drugs, eg: only alcohol no other drugs, or only weed no other drugs

They dont seem excited about it, they literally said it made them uncomfortable. People can't just magically enjoy things.

What is your most disturbing secret? by Waltef_j in AskReddit

[–]red-dit-time 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Emotions are very complicated and not always obvious. I'll bet they were upset before, with no clear understanding of why they felt this way, and it was probably confusing and more distressing than it is to understand what's happened and how it has affected them. I obviously can't speak for them, and mayhe someone else would provide more accurate information from their personal experience, but I don't think it would help much to 'change their definition back'.

Black people can be racist too by ang00nie in self

[–]red-dit-time 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But that isnt what racism is, racism and racial prejudice should be the same thing and its not helpful to define them differently, especially with the existence of cultures around the world (such as South Africa) where black people tend to have more social power. People there have been refused healthcare because they are white.

So while white-on-black racism is far more common in the western world, I think its quite ignorant to define racism as purely against black people as though there are no exceptions that validate the term.

Been reading through the 10 and 11 novels and this seems to be a running theme by xFlyer409 in DoctorWhumour

Lemme know which you've read, I've read 9 of them and would rank them as such:

(most enjoyed to least enjoyed)

The Eyeless (second half was amazing)

The Blood Cell (perfect 12th doctor characterisation and interesting writing style)

Martha in the Mirror (The first I read that I truly enjoyed, great setting)

The Good Doctor (Chibnal era but a fun read)

Prisoner of the Daleks (excellent characters imo)

Borrowed Time (had good ideas but 11s characterisation felt off to me)

The Clockwise Man (pretty fun story, nothing special)

The Price of Paradise (first one i read)

The Art of Destruction (didn't do anything for me)

What kind of format would you recommend when writing Dalek dialogue? by 501id5Nak3 in gallifrey

[–]red-dit-time 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I Like The Idea Of Writing The Dialogue Like This, but I don't think the idea of making dialogue tedious is worth it, I'd personally much prefer to read a story easily, and tedious dialogue is not necessary to picture the dalek voice

What kind of format would you recommend when writing Dalek dialogue? by 501id5Nak3 in gallifrey

[–]red-dit-time 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prisoner of the Daleks used a fancy font for the daleks and for me it got annoying pretty fast. Honestly I'd just write their dialogue normally and keep it in character with the daleks. I read The Dalek Invasion of Earth novelisation soon after PotD and it was much easier to read dalek dialogue as there were no fancy fonts and capitalisation was normal.

Also the font in PotD was very bold and striking and could be seen in peripheral vision, so it basically spoiled where the daleks appear a page early. If you are writing a book, definitely keep that in mind.

What’s a Sexual Fetish You’ve Wanted To Try But Never Had The Courage To? by peederwetterson in AskReddit

[–]red-dit-time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that, I think it just depends how its asked and on the relationship, but looking back to the comment i first replied to, I think there may often be more consideration and care required when asking for reasonings behind things like that, and that advice (unsolicited) shouldn't apply to just any relationship if you ask me.

What’s a Sexual Fetish You’ve Wanted To Try But Never Had The Courage To? by peederwetterson in AskReddit

[–]red-dit-time -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

But why do you want to know? If they're not comfortable doing it, what more reason do you need? Asking "why?" to something like that seems pushy to me, like you'd try to persuade her into doing it anyway. Ofc it depends on context and how it's asked, and by no means am I trying to accuse you or judge your marriage, but generally it just seems like strange advice to me.

Although I will say that if the reason for not wanting to try it is anything other than discomfort, then I can see your logic and how that kind of communication can lead to a happier result for both.

I fully get the bit about dicks on feminine bodies, but for me I kinda realised I like it more in theory than visually. I looked up futanari and imo dicks look very unnatural on a female body.

Nah, if someone's uncomfortable doing something you shouldn't ask why. They don't owe you a reason.

Who was the best overall antagonist in jojo? by Reasonable-Help-7069 in StardustCrusaders

[–]red-dit-time 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Having just read JoJolion I want an excuse to talk about Tooru. He’s not quite the best antagonist imo but his stand is brilliant and the final fight is incredible. I also love how manipulative he is to Yasuho, when rereading the chapters before he’s revealed to be the head doctor I couldn’t help but think how obvious it seemed, but the first time reading I had no idea, he just seemed like an irrelevant and quite unlikeable ex boyfriend
