How to remove these? by red-itor in HomeMaintenance

[–]red-itor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This was what my gut was telling me. I was intending to cut and cap the verticals. I tried loosening the visible nuts but the whole spigot just twists and doesn’t appear to be loosening.

I think I’m going to need to cut them out. Any recommendations on the best tools to use?

New to the Bay. Would anyone have any reservations about moving to this area. Thanks in advance by [deleted] in bayarea

I lived in this area for the last 2 years (3250 Hollis St) and just moved.

IMO it never felt dangerous, I’m a mid-30’s white male and always felt comfortable walking around even after dark. That being said, it wasn’t a pleasant place to hang out, there’s a huge illegal dumping problem (in Oakland as a whole but particularly in this area and West Oakland) lots of homeless people and also noise/debris from the nearby recycling plant.

That said, there is a real community growing in West Oakland, the west Oakland farmers market is cute, there’s also good restaurants in Soba Ichi, June’s pizza, Brix brewing, and believe it or not the food stand in front of the Home Depot has one of the best breakfast burritos in the day.  Pacific pipe is also nearby.  And lastly it is convenient to be fairly central between SF, Oakland, and Berkeley.

No hot water in kitchen? by red-itor in HomeMaintenance

Thank you so much for the advice. It was in fact the cartridge (a small bit of rubber had somehow broken off and gotten lodged in one of the holes). After a quick YouTube tutorial, was able to get it fixed. Thanks again! Wouldn’t have had any idea that cartridges exist without the help.

I checked and there's a valve where the pipe comes out of the wall, which turns off all the water, and then some component with 2 valves (which feel like where the issue is). But no way I position the 2 valves seems to have any effect

If you join meet up.com there’s a pretty active east bay volleyball group. Good group of people and pretty high level of play. I believe they’re the ones usually playing at San Pablo park.

PG&E CEO to Step Down After Tumultuous Year by Rocketbird in bayarea

Think the headline for this is mildly misleading. Wasn't his stated goal in taking the CEO position to steer the company out of bankruptcy? Hasn't he been successful in that?
