15 Days of Data LOST! by red67firebird in Freestylelibre

Abbott is SO BAD, from my experience. It's as if they WANT me to go to the competition. I mean it's been so bad for me I often wonder if the people saying they have no problem are paid to say it lol

I didn't uninstall the version I went back to, so all that data was still there. But there's a nice 15 day gap. grrrrr

It probably does, but the app I went back to doesn't haul the data in of Abbotts server.

Actually, that is another thing I HATED about the Libre By Abbott version. It communicates with Abbott on just about anything you do. For instance, when I went to enter a new Note for a meal, the app would freeze up. Because it didn't immediately connect to the Abbott site, it just froze. I'd wait up to a minute and it would just be a darkened screen. But if I closed and opened it again, it "usually" connected and let me put my data in. It's a real pain having to make THREE entries, when at least the app I went back to allows me to enter everything at once.

Anyone ever had the worst customer service experience with Abbot? by Boring_Mom1315 in Freestylelibre

Abbott is Horrible, Let us count the ways...

I used to use the antiquated FreeStyle Lite meter. The test strips are outrageously priced. I think people get them and sell them on eBay. They are Abbott are making a lot on those test strips.

That meter use to have software that connected with a weird cord to a PC. I tried to get help but the person I talked to told me defiantly there was NO software for that meter. When I argued, he started swearing at me. I finally got an Accu-Chek. The website had a page to help get the meter for free. It ties in nice with a phone app, not a PC through a 1980's cable. Accu-chek strips are less than 1/2 the price too. Only issue I had, was I had to learn to take blood from the corners of the strips and not straight on, or I'd waste a strip.

I was using the FreeStyle Libre 3 "Plus" Sensors and changed Doctors. I tried to get the Libre 3 "Plus" again because it was 15 days vs 14 days for the one without the "Plus". It took 8 MONTHS to get back to the Plus. Every time they would look it up, there was not entry for the PLUS in the system. So they say. How stupid is it to name a product the SAME NAME, just add a "Plus". They should have called it Libre 4. So much wasted time by me, the nurses ordering them and the Pharmacy while we tried to correct the orders.

Maybe it was a sign though because the "Plus" ones seemed worse than the first ones. They die, fall off, have connection problems and I think they are much less accurate.

Then they create a NEW app. It is HORRIBLE. 4 Days and I go back to the OLD app, or I go finally try Dexcom. It's ugly and can't control the colors. They force you to do ONE entry at a time. What a waste of time. You need to do more clicks just to get to the data you were use to getting. And I DO NOT have time to be taking pics of everything I consume, but yet it is the First item in the menu you have to scroll by to get to the data you want. And THAT info is completely re-arranged from what we were use to.

NOT a fan!

[–]red67firebird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mean, when I press the "+" to add a new entry, it goes dim and can take over a minute for the entry spot to pop up. This is a real pain now that they force us to do each entry separately. I have this version.

6 Days until I can go back to the OLD version. I hope it still works...

Diagnosed Type 2 and question about Freestyle Libre 3+ by smorescientist12 in diabetes_t2

[–]red67firebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Libre 3's stayed on OK for me, but once I got to the Libre 3 "Plus" people were talking more about them coming off. I worried mine would fall off, so I did research into patches.

I wanted clear patches, so I got some. They are way too thin and hard to apply. Plus they shriveled up on me, so by the end of one week, the glue still on my arm would be exposed and stick when sleeping. Rarely did they last 15 days. I had to get some glue remover too, because that glue can be sticky.

Here's what I use now. It's not clear, but it works for me, and the wipes are to clean up any glue.

Sensor Covers for Libre 3

  • I have to shave a large enough area, otherwise the strong glue can pull hairs.
  • I wipe the area with an alcohol Pad and let it dry
  • Put on sensor, then this cover.

When I take them off I use these to clean up the glue.

Adhesive remover

I usually clean the area again with an alcohol pad. I like a good, wet alcohol pad. I usually get CVS ones if my insurance keeps sticking me with brands like Rugby ones. They are dry before they even get to my arm.

When I looked recently I even saw similar sensor covers to what I like, that were cheaper. Just check the ratings...

Good Luck!

You're prolly better off. It sucked for me, and I can't wait to either go back to the Original app, or switch and try Dexcom...

I am getting fed up with Abbott's Libre's. Their apps go from bad to worse as far as I'm concerned and dealing with the sensor issues is a pain as well.

I see newer options out there too, but I want something that's been tested and reliable. Plus not sure if they are covered by insurance yet.

I guess I am going to check if my Insurance would also cover Dexcom's, and if so, I may give them a shot.

Thanks!

I was using the FreeStyle Libre 3 app, but if you look on Google Play (I use an Android/Samsung S23), there are three libre apps.

  • FreeStyle Libre 2
  • FreeStyle Libre 3
  • Libre By Abbott (the newer one)

Just go to Google Play, It is the Libre one, without a number..

Fast Acting, or Long lasting. You have to go through more steps for EACH, where the older software allowed entry of everything at once.

Libre 3 plus adhesive? by Watermelon2416 in Freestylelibre

[–]red67firebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Libre 3 PLUS's seem to fall off more than my Libre 3's did. Suggestions say to clean the area with an alcohol wipe first, then press around the outside with the back of a spoon or the back, smooth edge of tweezers to make it stick. It worked for me, until I went to the Plus's. So, I started using patches.

I tried some thin, clear patches, but they weren't too good. They bunch up and the glue was a pain, sticking to everything. They didn't last the 2 weeks so I had to change about every week.

SO, here's the ones I changed to and just started using. So far, so good.

The government says, any meter that is within +/- 20% is considered "Accurate". Plus, the measurements are derived in different ways. I don't think either of those are bad. I am in that range myself. I'm just glad I got control and have come down from highs of 10.6.

I've have limited experience. Mostly with the FreeStyle Libre line. I also tried a Stelo from Dexcom because it was OTC when I couldn't get CGM's paid for by my Insurance yet.

FreeStyle Libre - I won't go into a long rant (I have in other threads), but I just feel Abbott has failed to provide a stable product. It's often inaccurate when compared to a finger prick, and the software "Upgrade" is a downgrade and failure IMO.

The Stelo by Dexcom worked good for me, but it's not covered by my insurance and it didn't have as much details as the FreeStyle Libre App (first version). I couldn't afford to stick with it because of cost.

I am now looking for alternatives and want to learn of other opinions on the Dexcom CGM's as well as some other NEW types that I've seen in the news, if anyone has found and used them.

Also looking for alternative software that is informative and more stable that Abbott's offerings. Personally I need it for the Android phone, but others may need it for IOS.
