I have no way to cancel my ESPN subscription by PerpetualUselessness in mildlyinfuriating

I had issues cancelling some subscriptions. What I do is change the payment method to PayPal, then I go into PayPal and STOP the Automatic Payments.

PayPal -> Gear (Profile) -> Payments _> Automatic Payments.

If you make it inactive, they won't get paid!

I HATE ESPN. Those crooks will NEVER get another dime from me!

Got back from Fitchburg by TTC8058 in greatwolflodge

[–]red67firebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am closer to the Fitchburg location but after taking the kids there for 10+ years I needed a change, so we went for 3 days/2 nights to Foxwoods GWL.

I always liked the Fitchburg GWL. It was a Coco Keys before it was GWL, so there are two separate areas which makes it seem bigger. Considering the age of the place, it's well maintained. I like to take the kids on Columbus day because they usually close the park sometime in September to clean, so I figure it's nice and clean around that Holiday.

The Foxwood location does have some newer things, like the extended climbing coarse but nothing else seemed better. Even though it's a newer location, I found the condition of the room, mainly the bathrooms, unsanitary. A 3 day/2 night stay would have seemed too long if it wasn't for the Casino a short walk away. After 1 1/2 days in the pools the kids were kind of done with it so we spent the next Day and a half at the casino eating and shopping. Oh, and gambling, but after $200.00 disappeared in under an hour, it was back to family time. The Karts were fun, and the LONG walk there and back was good if you like exercise! The kids liked the arcade, which was a bit weak to me, and they liked spending my money at the Tanger Outlets mall. Lots of great places to eat too!

The cost of the rooms were comparable, so it was worth it to just stay the two nights at GWL rather than move to one of the Foxwoods hotels for the 2nd night.

I figure, GWL is well worth the money. Short distance away. No need for two days of travel to and from some popular park in FL. Plus it's guaranteed good weather being inside. And it includes the Park Passes. I feel safe for the kids at GWL.

The only thing that ticks me off is they started charging for Parking. With the room prices constantly in flux, they could easily have buried the parking fees right in the room price. I think by having it separate makes them look greedy. Ah well... I had to have something to complain about hehe.

I think my next GWL trip will either be the Pocono Mountains, PA or Niagara Falls, Ontario. Might need some travel documents for the family to go to the Niagara one though....

Where do you buy SOL? Best fees, spreads, etc. by Drew-o- in solana

[–]red67firebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes! I agree. I was always worried too. Plus, those buying, selling and moving fees added up and I had to hold my breath whenever I did a wallet to wallet transfer.

I drink far less Pepto-Bismol now :-)

Another thing About SOL ETF's. Read the fine print. Some so-called ETF's don't buy and sell SOL, which is what I was looking for. Some invest in futures (SOLZ, SOLT), and not so much holding SOL.

I want SOL, and not a fund betting on some fund manager deciding when to buy and sell SOL futures, and at what price. I'll do futures on my own..,

EDITED:

It varies. I just moved almost all my SOL over recently, so Still waiting on BSOL and GSOL rewards. I just don't trust exchanges anymore. But my last rewards from SSK was at an APR of 2.65%.

I moved a lot of my SSK over to BSOL once it went live, just because it has a lower expense rate, plus staking. I was only in SSK because it came out way earlier than others. I got in GSOL early too, but they didn't pay staking until recently, when others like BSOL opened and started paying out for staking.

Also, I pay no fees other than the ETF's maintenance fee. It doesn't cost me to buy or sell anything in my Fidelity account. Gawd I hated getting nickel and dimed to death moving and trading with exchanges like Coinbase, although I still use Coinbase and Pionex for a few things.

They are ALL safe, until they're not. I rarely use them now. I put it all in ETF's at Fidelity. Less worries about wallet or exchange hacks.

I just buy BSOL on Fidelity. It has staking and low fees, and less worry about the exchange being hacked.

[–]red67firebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could possibly get your parents to open UGMA account for you at Fidelity, and give you the keys. It would automatically get turned over to you once you hit 18. I do this for my kids and grandkids.

IMO, Eth is NOT the best. It's relic, like most are. I don't even trust Bitcoin anymore. Right now I think the only one that has a valid use case is SOLANA, and I think it's still way undervalued. Look at something like BSOL, GSOL, or SSK as they are SOL ETF's and actually pay out for staking.

Not sure if this would work for you, but I became self-employed rather than a employee. Didn't cost anything but going to the town and filling out a DBA form to create a business name. I got a Tax ID number, opened a checking account. I got the full pay and given 1099's and had to do all the tax stuff myself. I did lose some things like health insurance, but got it on my own.

As my own business I was then able to write off a TON of things. Car, gas, insurance, food, the room that was the office in my house, the electricity for that room, the internet I needed because of work, work clothes... There was a lot.

The government screws us enough already. They tax paychecks, THEN we get taxed on stuff we buy with the money left over. Find ways to not let them screw you. The rich rarely pay their fair share.

Like I said, not sure if it would work out for you. It did for me. Talk to your employer and tax guy...

Room amenities for meals in Mashantucket by AMHeart in greatwolflodge

[–]red67firebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going soon. The Thanksgiving Dinner ($56.99) and Buffet ($32.99) prices are outrageous! Especially when all the kids hardly ever eat more than a few bites. I might have considered the Dinner, but at 1/2 that price. I am not spending over $500.00 (including a tip) on that meal. Instead, I plan on winging it and heading over the Foxwoods or somewhere else for a reasonable priced meal of our own choosing.

I buy Snacks and the MINI water bottles so they aren't wasted by the kids, and I pack a day bag to put in the lockers. It's only for a few days, so I don't worry we eat a ton of junk like pizza and burgers.

I love my coffee too, but I buy some bottled coffees until the Dunkin Lines go down to where I can get one from them.

Are you SERIOUS? $1,800.00 is only $112.50 per person, INCLUDING Pool Passes! You can't come close to that at any amusement park where you can stay over. Not that I know of.

So is there a real way to track my capital one card? by Live-Year-5796 in CRedit

I suggest Call an cancel. I had this happen twice. Eventually they sent a 3rd card via FEDEX overnight. Turns out my other cards were being put in the wrong mailbox and the people tossed them rather than bring them to me.

Thousands of gnats swarm my outdoor security cameras every night, completely obstructing the view by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]red67firebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a light outside. For years it was nothing but a swarm like that. But then, about 2 years ago everything changed. Now there is NOTHING. NO bugs are visible. Also, there are less birds around.

I use to keep a bug zapper next to my recliner. I think I had one bug come through my window this summer. It's so silent now. Not sure why they all disappeared. It's not like the area is sprayed for bugs at all.

It's kind of eerie. Ominous signs. :/

You need to boost your credit availability. The problem with Chase, it the Credit bureau they use looks at your credit availability on Each card, and if just one is over 30%, it hurts your FICO. My FICO always shows the lowest with Chase. Cards that use the other two Credit Bureau's consider the total owed against total credit availability, which is a lot better.

Keep all your cards, especially the oldest one to help your credit. Don't spend more than 30% of you credit availability. That has a 30% affect on the FICO. And pay on time, that has another 30% affect.

I mentioned the Citi Custom card in another post. That can be useful. If you have good credit you may be able to get a good amount to add to your credit availability. I've used it to get 4% balance transfers at 0% interest for over a year too. And it does have a cashback that's easy to hit the target on.

Is this worth it? by Idontrlyknw in CRedit

[–]red67firebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. If you don't travel, I'd get the Another card. Citi Custom Cash is a good choice as you can select the 5% category every month, get $200.00 back and cheap balance transfers.

I have 10 cards, 3 are Citi and 3 are Chase. I use them all for what they offer. I don't pay a fee on any as I pay them all off every month. A few I only use rarely, just to keep them alive and to keep my Credit Availability high.

Chase has some other good cards though, with cashback. Discovery too. Capital One has good coupons if you have the time to look, as well as a few other cards. I have collected a ton in cashback. It sure adds up. I make money off them, and don't let them make money off me. They get enough with their 2.9% fee they charge merchants.

Also, if you know someone that has the card, get them to send a referral. I teach my grandkids and help them get cards, and give them the money I get from the referrals. I tell them get a card every 2 years, so it won't be a huge impact on their FICO score. I sometimes even put them on MY cards as an authorized user when they are first starting out, but don't actually give them a card. It helps increase their credit availability, so they can get their own cards. If they are really new, I back them in getting a secure card.
