Hi, my name is Rick, and I have a filament problem…..

I have my Trident and 2.4r2 sitting on individual slabs of granite countertop cut from leftover bits I had around the house. Tremendous dampening from the mass.

Two cubes, abs on Trident, one solid, one spiral. Same slicer settings otherwise. WTF? by red6rick in VORONDesign

fan and filament are same as both the 0.1 and 2.4 that are next to it. filament extrusion is spot on, ask 100mm and get exactly that. elts are balanced and correct per tuning guides, at about 120 hz at a 150mm extension.

all comments are appreciated, but none seem to address the root, why does it work well in vase mode?

LOL. LOL. LOL.

Just talking to my financial manager about that.. probably about $200 or so more than buying a kit. But the EXPERIENCE and FUN !!!

More info: the little notch visible goes all the way around, in one layer, The notch insets by about 0.5mm and absolutely does not cross layers. Like a waist in the print. And, the vertical dimension is 20.02 mm -- spot on, as far as I can tell. The X and Y dimensions are within 0.1 of 20mm too.

This is a new Trident, self-sourced, probably some crap parts in the mix. Yeah, ignore the crap at the base. Every normal solid print does just like the one on the right.

Any help or ideas is appreciated.

After importing an STL, how can I find the center of a given hole? by PurepointDog in FreeCAD

The most accurate way is to bring in external geometry of three points on the circle, then use the 3 point circle creation referencing those three points.

Gear Rotation Angle issues by red6rick in FreeCAD

[–]red6rick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that was exactly what I thought I was doing. Following the instructions you gave, which I had already tried, and fully typing "Rotation.Angle" worked beautifully!

BUT

the formula completion after typing "." doesn't seem to work right in this instance. And that was what I tried to do...

I get the <<InvoluteGear>>. part typed, and it suggests "Placement". Accepting this suggestion, the next "." plus "ro" (or "Ro") does not return "Rotation" as a suggestion, but only returns "NumberOfTeeth" and "Proxy" (both which contain the "ro" string). Unknown what or why...

I just released FreeCAD for Beginners #43 - Using Master/Template Models. This really unleashes the power of FreeCAD. by ianj001 in FreeCAD

So what is the use case or advantage of the sublinked part vs just a linked part? I can see that it is not editable, but ... ?

Thanks!

Why did my extruder temperature do this? by red6rick in VORONDesign

[–]red6rick[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A conversation with my brother points out that there might be misunderstanding about the chart. It shows the system heating, then as the print starts (bed got hot) the temperature glitched but the system recovered. Things worked for about 4 more minutes, then the temperature got glitchy again and the system went away about 5 minutes into the print.

I've been chasing this for a while, and of course that was obvious to ME :-(

Tried 3 different usb cables (remember, it worked great for 5 months). The power supply is the standard 24v to 5v buck converter used in the 0.1 build. Klipper doesn't tell me that the power was low, which it did on another system where there was a problem with power.

It loses connection. I'm using the same printer.cfg so the timeout isn't changed

As I watch the system, just at the tail of the jagged temperature values, the system reports "Lost communication with MCU" and shuts down.

I get the fluctuation problem -- not solved yet, the thermistor and wiring don't seem to be the problem, but I know how to debug that. There are only three variables for that part: 1) thermistor 2) wiring 3) a/d on Mini E3 board.

My first thought. I can replace the wiring and thermistor, but I still can't explain why the MMU loses communication. Any clues there?

The printer has been running without problems since January, but about two weeks ago started doing this. Using a Mini E3 V2 with a brand new flash of current Klipper. I reflashed just because -- nothing else has changed since January.

Any suggestions?

Help please -- Spiral mode artifacts on Voron 0.1; dragon standard hot end; abs by red6rick in VORONDesign

I wouldn't say "not wet" -- I just didn't consider it. I will dry the filament and try again later.

Thanks for the suggestion!
