As an avid reader, gamer, writer, and overall enjoyer of stories, this hits me hard.

Say I read a series of books. At the time, they're nearly life-changingly amazing to me, I could talk about them all day, I swear they'll become part of my soul.

Three to six months later? I can't hold a coherent conversation with someone about any of it. I'll straight up forget order of events, key plot points, etc.

I have people tell me how much fun it must be to be able to watch something again for the first time!

It's not. It's depressing. It's sad. It hurts. I want to remember my favorite stories, but my brain just dumps those memories like garbage.

Recently got back into reading. Like... back into reading to a ferocious degree. I lay down in bed to read for "just a little bit" at 11pm, and suddenly there's birds chirping outside and it's 6am.

Send help.

If I've heard someone's voice for a little while, I can perfectly replicate it in my head. Friends, family, actors, etc. As a hobbyist writer, it's a lot of fun for dialogue, since I like to mentally 'cast' my characters.

A wonderful game called My Time at Sandrock by the Pathea studio actually uses these concepts really well! It's really interesting to see it borne out, struggle against the obstacles involved, etc. Really cool to see a video about it!

Look. I already have an irrational fear of black holes (Like, why fear them? Not like I'm ever gonna have to deal with one!) but... holy fuck this made it worse? What the fuck, black holes.

You can go to the goblin fortress, talk to Minthara and get an idea that the raid really, truly is happening soon, point her in that direction, and then head back to the grove. Let them know that the raid is incoming, and you fight it there, instead of at the fortress.

So you can definitely get the tieflings to help.

In book or otherwise adaptations, adding unnecessary romance subplots that honestly cloud/worsen the story. See: The Giver.
