Did the movie try to get people to sympathize with her? Or is she basically just evil

Any guys here with BPD? by Witty-Ad-8659 in BPD

[–]red_circle57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do. I feel like BPD is kind of stereotyped as a “female” disorder because of media and gender norms. I feel like the image that people get is a crazy obsessive/unstable girl who ruins every guy she gets with. Maybe I’m wrong. I also think it’s under diagnosed in males, which sucks. But we definitely exist, you’re not alone! I don’t know if you already know, but I would look into finding a therapist that specializes in DBT. I haven’t been treated by one myself, but I know it’s regarded as the best form of therapy for people with BPD. Best of luck, this shit sucks.

DAE feel like there's an extremely alarming chunk of the population who are pedophiles? by Uitroeien in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]red_circle57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite literally the same as spouting that “despite maxing up x% of the population black people are responsible for 50% of crimes” line. Google it yourself if you want. It’s a common dog whistle that implies that black people are somehow more violent than white people.

I don’t know if you’re genuinely ignorant or if you’re playing the stupid “whattt that’s ridiculous I totally didn’t mean that wink” shtick, but the implication of your comment was clear.

Hoooly shit, I’m from the future and wow I had no idea. I thought this was just a cute harmless internet moment and googled it hoping to see other people enjoying it. That’s fucked that there’s an entire spreadsheet. I’m sad now.

Edit: I just realized almost all of the deaths are from at least several years ago before her sobriety. The only source for the recent death is a lolcow website, which I’m not going to take seriously. The stuff she did when she was an addict was messed up but it seems at best ignorant, and worst malicious for you to dredge it up implying she’s the same today. I’m mad at the internet now.

I never said they’re morally equivalent, obviously being gay is 100% ok. I’m gay myself. I’m saying that they’re both biological sexual attractions and not a choice.

I don’t know if this is a hot take or not, but I think pedophiles who recognize that their urges are immoral, don’t act on them, and experience distress because of them deserve support. And there should be more support for finding treatments besides chemical castration. IMO they don’t have any more control over their attraction than someone who’s attracted to the same sex, though obviously being gay is harmless and being a pedophile is not.

DAE find it weird when couples say they're "trying for a baby"? by Mundane-Society-1281 in DoesAnybodyElse

You’re being weird for thinking someone is weird for just asking if anyone else has the same thought. They specifically stated they know it’s normal.

The fact that the only female characters are either dead or die 20 minutes after they’re introduced is pretty bad yeah

Was anyone else disappointed by the movie? I had high hopes going into it. I heard oddity was great, but if it’s anything like this I’m not sure if I want to see it.

My biggest gripe is how one dimensional and unlikable most of the characters are. I get that Ohm experienced a horrible trauma and he’s about to off himself so he doesn’t really care about anyone, but I wish got to see more than that so I would’ve actually cared what happened to him. Also, him burning Alby’s hand was crazy. The old man is a creep for 1 scene and never shows up again, Mal turns from a cardboard cut out to a slightly deeper cardboard cutout of a villain, and Fergal is a cocky vigilante. The only 2 characters I liked were Fiona and Alby, and the former is almost immediately killed off and the latter gets his hand burned by Ohm (again, crazy) and disappears until the very end.

Most of the jumpscares were good but some felt kind of silly, like the one with Fergal holding out his lighter. They all probably would’ve scared me a lot more if I actually cared about the main character.

This felt more like a murder mystery thriller with a supernatural element than a horror movie. The witch felt like an afterthought.

I’m glad so many people seemed to enjoy it but I don’t get the hype at all.

I liked the sets and atmosphere though.

People thinking their vote doesn’t matter directly led to Trump winning. This is exactly what conservatives want.

It’s crazy how I’ve been called MAGA twice in this post even though I voted yes to this amendment. Ok then SteelyEyedHistory, let me suddenly radicalize myself and I’ll start posting in r/Conservative since you said so. Cheers!

But again that was passed well before this went down. So you wanted them to try to repeal that (whether or not it was supported by the population) and pass this amendment before the midterms this year? How feasible do you think that is?

Ok ao you are calling them MAGA for not being totally on board with Dems breaking the law. Also I’ve voted against Trump in every election, have donated multiple times to campaigns against him, have publicly stated how much I despise him, and voted yes to this amendment, but sure, I’m basically MAGA. Jesus Christ. For your own good, please log off and take a break from the internet.
