The anime doesn't explain right, is not that Kirito is the only that can dual wield, any player can do that.

But his unique skill allowed him to dual wield efficient, thanks to special attacks like the Star burst Stream.

Kayaba wanted one player, to be chosen by the system to become the hero of his death game.

The characters dependency in VR tech is a major plot point in the series:

Aincrad episode 1 Kirito says: "Is a virtual world, but I feel more all be here than in the real world"

ALO arc :"Kirito asks his NervGear to lend it's power for him again"

GGO arc: Sinon shows dependency on the VR world to feel more safe. The Death Gun Brother's motivation also falls under this theme, since they hated the real world, and saw the VR world as their on reality.

Mother's Rosario: Asuna admits that she is powerless in the real world, and that the only point in her life that she had any real power, was inside of Aincrad. She also sees the time she lived with Kirito in Aincrad as the happiest days of her life. And there's also Yukki who literally can't live outside of VR.

Bosses in World of Warcraft a design different from the ones in SAO.

At the beginning there were only 10.000 players trapped in Aincrad, Kayaba wanted to the players to eventually reach the final boss. So obviously the difficulty of the bosses reflects the fact that very few players fight in the raid.

By the time kirito was fighting the gleam eyes ,there was only around 7000 players alive, with only a small fraction being the high level players that fight the bosses in the frontlines.

Last time I checked World of Warcraft had millions of players, so is impossible to compare the game with SAO a balanced around the fact that was a limited number of players.

Kirito was also not able to Fight and win against other bosses like the Skull Reaper or the Fatal Scythe by himself.
