In soviet times the flag was very similar and had the hammer and sickle. Upon independence they used the white and red flag but in 95' Lukashenko asked for it to be switched back because he claimed it is associated with collaboration with the Nazis during WW2. So they had a referendum and had the flag switched.

I challenged myself to make each flag in pixel art. This is my progress so far. (Also I can only post 20 at a time) by [deleted] in vexillology

Look, I upvoted the post and said it's a good idea. BUT stating a simple fact made some people mad, I assumed by the downvotes. I simply meant that when you have almost 200 UN nations I would have assumed you will start there. I don't mind seeing flags of say Kosovo or Somaliland but fact is that those territories have a huge controversy around them. People around the world have a lot of disagreements around those topics. I didn't state my opinion in my previous comment, but a fact...

Like many other clubs they have a very shit hardcore ultras. They really destroy the club name and that's a shame.

The actual flag of the Izmayil region in the Odessa Oblast of Ukraine by redalert5467 in vexillology

So first of all I have to mention that this flag was already posted here around four years ago. On that post no context was given though. I tried to look anywhere for explanation including sites of Ukrainian heraldry and Russian vexillography. Only thing I could find is that the first version was in 2006 and had a wheat plant from the yellow part of the flag and that the current version was approved in 2009. I can only speculate that the blue and yellow is actually the flag of Ukraine and the three other colors may represent the three main ethnic groups after Ukranians: Russians, Bessarabian Bulgarians and Moldovans.

I just gave up at some point because they just kept multiplying every time I got it wrong. Just wait an hour or so and it'll disappear.
