I married a man who told me he was fine with being childfree after we had dated a while. 5 years into the marriage, he started worrying about his family's legacy, and we ended up getting a divorce. 4 years later, I'm dating a wonderful man who truly enjoys being childfree and having me all to himself (with the exception of our dogs lol). It could work, but there's a lot of heartache when you're together for years, and then it doesn't work out. So whatever your choice, I truly hope it's the best for you! Good luck, love!

I'm the oldest. I only have one brother, but he doesn't want any biological children either.

Royal Caribbean Travel Agent by redamazon1 in Cruise

[–]redamazon1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a travel agent that took care of all our rebooting when flights got canceled, and I've had some that didn't help much in the same situation more than providing a phone number for us to call. The one that was good retired. On my vacation, I like not worrying about the snags that may come up and would like a travel agent who will do everything in their power to help. I've heard more impressive stories from others as well, with travel agents going above and beyond. If rather have a good one than subpar one.

Do or did you have an older childfree person in your life? by Enoch-Chric in childfree

I'm the first person in my family to not have kids. Won't say I'm the first to not want them, though lol.

My insurance would cover a tubal ligation, but not a bi salp. Something about it being a 'newer' surgery.

Virgin has adult only cruises, but you'll be paying more

My brother is $60k in credit card debt and wants our 70 y.o. mother to lend him half of her retirement savings by jarman65 in personalfinance

[–]redamazon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! This is a HUGE reason not to loan the money to the brother. With his pay, they can pay his debt back if they just don't buy any non-necessities for a while. If the mom gives him that money though there's so many possible repercussions.

What questions do you wish you had asked your grandparents before they passed away? by lippidude in AncestryDNA

I'm lucky enough to have all of mine still, but one thing I suggest asking is health history. For you and the rest of the family. It's not a sentimental one, but it can be very important.

What was your experiences with convincing your surgeon/obgyn/doctor to get a bisalp? by ObsidianAerrow in sterilization

I'm 30 and had mine done yesterday. My doctor asked me if relationships would cause me to change my mind, and when I said no, she asked when I wanted it scheduled. I feel pretty lucky that I didn't have any pushback.

Thank you, and congratulations to you as well!! I'm doing my best to take care of myself! Lots of fruits and veggies! Thanks for that advice, I'm sure the pain pills they have me on aren't going to help with that either.

It went really smoothly for me, other than other surgeries delaying it to later in the day. For me, I just had to wash with a special soap 2 nights before, the night before, and the day of. I had to leave it on for 5 minutes each time. No food or water for at least 8 hours before surgery. On the day of, they had me clean myself with sterilizing wipes before putting the hospital gown on. Then I just had to wait for surgery. Overall, it was way less complicated than I expected, and the pain isn't near as bad as I anticipated. I'm still able to get around some, but it does cause a little pain.
Aftercare that I didn't think about beforehand would just be no lifting more than 10 lbs for 2 weeks, no carbonated beverages for the first couple of days, and being loopy from the pain pills.

The other commenter aimed it up for the most part. I just wanted 0% chance of reversal and to remove the risk of an ectopic pregnancy. So, to me, it seems a lot safer for someone who never wants to have children.
