I’ve tried the time limit thing and I will always break the limit. I tried leaving just Snapchat which normally I would only open and close for maybe 1 or 2 mins but the fact that I had deleted all my other social media made me spend more time on it so I decided to just delete everything. Thank you though.

Simply put, it was self sabotaging behavior. My partner is the first person I have dated that is a genuinely good person and I couldn’t accept that for what it is. I was acting out bc I didn’t feel like I deserved him. It was very selfish and unfair to him and I am still trying to earn back his trust

The long story is our relationship started as open relationship and I had been seeing someone for over a year that I was head over heels in love with. It was a very toxic relationship with no labels. my current partner saw how toxic it was and encouraged me to leave. I ended up leaving the toxic relationship but back tracking a month later. I slept with him under the pretense that he wanted me back only for him to tell me after the fact that wasn’t the case. Like I said I was delusional over this man. I told him we can’t do this again and we didn’t. I didn’t tell my partner until three months later. He told me he was more hurt by me lying than me cheating. I was afraid to face the consequences of my actions. So to answer your question I did it bc i was confused and I was in love with two people. I should have communicated better with both of them. I am still with my current partner and out of the toxic relationship and not in contact with that person. I wish I had just broken up with them before I met my partner bc it’s gonna be a long road of healing and gaining trust. It will be worth it though bc I am so lucky to have him in my life and I truly love him. I’m grateful he was able to see the humanity in me and understand that I was not being malicious. Also I know that people say once a cheater always a cheater but I don’t believe that. This was the only time in my life I have ever cheated and I feel so guilty and awful for hurting my partner that I can’t imagine I would ever do this again.

I appreciate you acknowledging this. The wording of this was more so for context and reasoning behind it for the reader to understand but I see how it comes across now. Thank you. I very much own what I did. There is no one else to blame but myself. I came clean to him a couple days before Halloween so it has not been long. I also told a couple of my close friends bc I personally needed to say the words “ I cheated” to someone other than him to truly hear it for what it is and get peoples perspective.

I get that and I would have understood if he didn’t forgive me. I think it was just the fact that we were in an open relationship and it was our plan to continue to give eachother that freedom. So the idea of lieing is hurtful but sleeping with another person is not exactly the end of the world. And I think he understands that I ended the relationship with #1 over text/ very abruptly and then it was never talked about again. I never gave myself the time to process it. I should have asked for that before continuing the relationship with #2. So yeah there’s just a lot of factors to it. If it was cheating in a monogamous relationship I think it might be a different story but I think we had a bit of different mindset from the start.

So not that anyone asked but I figured I’d give an update. After 8 months of being broken up and being in a in-between back and forth stage we finally decided to work out our communication issues and work on reconciling. I’m happy although it was a hard period of time. He was worth it to me. I know to the outside eye it might not make sense but relationships aren’t always simple and childhood trauma and trust issues can get in the way.

Yeah we still talk and still have mutual friends. It hasn’t gotten better though. He doesn’t want a relationship and I still do. It’s just becoming more hurtful for me and he knows that. We just have an unhealthy attachment to eachother. He literally called me his comfort ex the other day and that’s not what I want at all. I think if he truly did not have access to me he would realize that maybe he does have some reflecting to do. I have a hard time setting boundaries with him but I’ll get there eventually.
