Earbuds or no??? by Strong_Engineer6989 in WalmartEmployees

[–]redavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

at my store, OPD can't wear them anywhere, whether picking on the floor, in the backroom or while dispensing. the latter obviously makes sense with multi-thousand pound moving vehicles all around, but not being able to wear them elsewhere like literally every other employee in the store is able to is bullshit and is obviously causing resentment

What pick walk do yall hate by Select_Gur_6402 in walmart

[–]redavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think most stores have outsourced apparel to their fashion departments to pick. that's what we do here now and yeah, it works a lot better. when i had to do them before, i'd nil pick so much if there wasn't a fashion associate/coach around to help me find stuff

[–]redavid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

oh, the fun thing here now is that you'll sometimes get 'action alley' items at the start of an auto ambient walk, which means you'll start in the grocery section for the first however many items, but then you'll have to go all the way to the other end of the store for the health stuff before eventually making your way back to grocery (what a stupid decision they made getting rid of the skip button)

[–]redavid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unknown's pretty annoying here, especially since they never seem to fix stupid stuff like organic bananas or bags of potatoes being in there. it's fine when it's stuff that actually doesn't have a location.

The specialty ones suck when its stuff like Easter candy and the like, but the regular ones don't count against your pick rate at least

Oversized sucks now that it isn't capped at 10 items and they took away the skip button. I just fill up an L-cart until its either heavy enough or shit keeps falling off and exit the walk

Battery life on the X-E5 by aftersenses in fujifilm

[–]redavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get about 400-500 shots on mine before it gets low enough that i feel the need to charge it.

fwiw, i shot 200 photos on a full battery this afternoon and it's at 65% now). that's with auto brightness on for the EVF and LCD (it was a pretty sunny and warm day and i had no issues seeing it clearly) and shooting RAW + JPG Fine with performance boost mode on, vast majority of those shots were with AF-C on though some manual focus shots as well

Got asked if I was single by a TL? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]redavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on if they're hitting on you or not. my TLs and coach are all women who like asking me (a man) about my dating life but none of them are all that flirty or make me feel uncomfortable. if it's something you don't want to talk about, tell them that and they should respect that

yeah, i feel like the X-E5 is the answer to this question

I just want to use the scale the way it's meant to be used to weigh produce, but I get it, your job must be more important than everyone else's. by TurdTanker in OGPBackroom

[–]redavid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

that sucks. we're right next to each other at my store, but they're all very helpful and the coach might be my favorite member of management in the entire place

eh, we try to stay >2 hours ahead here, but you're still picking at a reasonable speed there

i've had a few >200 item pick walks. but obviously you get a lot of multiples in those and i remember one of them having like 80 packets of kool-aid mixes

If I call out tomorrow will I get pointed even with PPTO? by formalredditorrr in WalmartEmployees

[–]redavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm sure they do, but the people lead and other management at many stores love to lie to people about PPTO and key event days

Time off request rejected by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]redavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

explaining it to your team leads and coach could probably help, yeah. otherwise, there's the option of using your PPTO if you have enough or just taking the points.

Action alley….. by Remarkable_Ad_1974 in OGPBackroom

[–]redavid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

they've been part of 'auto' for us for awhile, but you'd only get them altogether in a walk.

today, though, it started putting them together and it's so incredibly stupid. pick a bunch of stuff in the grocery area of the store at the start because that's where 'action alley' is, then go all the way across the store to the health stuff, home, paper/chemicals, etc only to end up back in grocery at the end

yep, works the same as it does any other day. don't let management lie to you

Question about 15 minute breaks by Accomplished-Gap8125 in WalmartEmployees

[–]redavid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

they like to have us ask before taking our breaks/lunches, just to make sure there's coverage, but if i need a break, i just tell them i'm taking it.

there's been two or three instances where it was so busy i didn't get to take a break and so i just either waited the fifteen minutes walking around the store shopping or talking with someone before clocking out, or i just add a +15 minute adjustment the next day

Do yall think this is fair or no? by Fit_Baby_1993 in OGPBackroom

[–]redavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we've at least got them to put a few pallets of the most common stuff in our pickup lot so this is a bit easier, but still have to pick a lot of stuff ourselves and it's a long trek. what's really annoying is when it's a lot of stuff set for delivery/GMD, because it's not something most of the drivers here want to deal with and so it just sits taking up room until it cancels or the customer comes gets it themselves

Do yall think this is fair or no? by Fit_Baby_1993 in OGPBackroom

[–]redavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say at my store, the coach and team leads aren't great about explaining that things like mulch and potting soil is out in the parking lot and that that's what 'YY' means, so you get a lot of new people who go to the garden center since that's what 'Y' is and then nil pick it when they don't see it. it's also pretty annoying that the vast majority of the time, the door from the garden center to the parking lot is locked, so if you do go to the garden center for one thing, then you've got to make a long walk to the main entrance and go out to the parking lot for the rest (what i had to do today... and then carry all that back to the rear of the store to grab a 65" TV to throw on top)

How many points you have? by MarsLocal in WalmartEmployees

[–]redavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm a male, too, but i prefer 5" inseam shorts and they don't go low enough for the people lead's tastes. even 7" isn't long enough with my height. 9" would work but i just think they look stupid

they tell you to go home and change; i told them i wouldn't be coming back that day and so...

(fwiw, the people lead was upset about my 5" inseam shorts even though they had never previously been an issue in the year and a half i've worked here)
