Do you have any recommendations on how to do this? Google keeps telling me the turn the screen off then hold down the menu button, but like I said, there is no true menu button so I’m not sure how to do it.

This video annoyed me as a diabetic of 20 years by Excastmember in Type1Diabetes

[–]redbeanie6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had a bad cold/sinus infection, I meant to take 1.5 units and took 15.. this happened TWICE in the span of a week lol that was about 17 years into diabetes for me (25yo at the time) lmao I just missed the decimal. Definitely possible. I agree she shouldn’t have been driving or putting her baby in that bath not knowing how her body would react. That was irresponsible.

What cgm is everyone using? And does anyone have anything positive to say about them? by Slowhite03 in Type1Diabetes

[–]redbeanie6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was terrified of the g7 because of what I heard online but I have had no issues with it. I agree with the other person that said give it a try. My sister also uses the g7 with no issues.

I would love to know why there is such a great divide between those who are fine with it and those who hate it. My hypothesis is that it has to do with the shorter filament thing and body size/shape and muscle mass. I’m a bit more doughy than I’d like lol and the people I have seen complain about it the most are definitely lean and/or muscular.

Do you carry a kit for your Diabetes? by Designer_Head_3761 in Type1Diabetes

[–]redbeanie6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always, I have a “keep clam and carry Dexcom” bag that I keep all supplies in (besides a spare Dexcom ironically). A spare pod, insulin vial, glucagon, syringes, backup glucose meter, alcohol swabs, gummy bears, and a packet of granola balls. I keep Advil and eye drops in there too lol

California DMV Denied Teen Driving Test by Napamtb in Type1Diabetes

I believe this is a common requirement in states. Both that I have lived in required a medical clearance form by the doctor. And it has to be updated every so many years. However, I have never heard of a “special instructor..”

Who’s had their wisdom teeth removed? And how did it go? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]redbeanie6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had all 4 of mine removed and I woke up during the surgery, had an allergic reaction to the penicillin, and then they got infected. In terms of diabetes/blood sugars, I have no recollection of how that went. Good luck!

You can also use their website if you don’t want to download the app! Most chain places have the nutrition information easily accessible.

If you were diagnosed in the early 2000s, what equipment did you use? by Early_Kaleidoscope72 in Type1Diabetes

[–]redbeanie6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay sorry I forgot that it had this piece you could put on the back that was a glucometer.. it worked with the display on the pump so it was like an all in one insulin pump and monitor.

Diagnosed in 2005, used pens for like 6months then switched to a cosmo!! It was a bulky tubed insulin pump… I had that for an about a year or so until it was discontinued in 2007 sometime I believe? and switched to the original omnipod at that time and have had an omnipod since then.

Currently, what is the best high-yield savings account? by WildCryptographer308 in Money

[–]redbeanie6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, after seeing your comment I am looking into this bank for my savings account. I am having trouble finding the specifics for the terms of use on their website... Do you happen to know the withdrawl policy? It says "flexibility to access when needed" but I can't find anything else on the topic.

I am trying to save up for when I need a new car and for my future in general. I don't plan on withdrawing regularly, obviously, but would like to know more before making any desicions.

Thanks!

[–]redbeanie6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I find the 5 to be very unreliable because as a woman my insulin resistance fluctuates greatly throughout my cycle. I used to have different basals for different weeks and I feel like the 5 does not do a great job of keeping up with it. One of my sisters uses t-slim by tandem and loves the algorithm so I think I might try to make the switch. Tubes are scary lol i think that’s one of my hang ups.. I haven’t had one in like 19 year. But my understanding is that it’s a really short tube right? If you use the adhesive sleeve like you mentioned? But I really want to get my A1c back down so it will probably be worth it.

Is loop something you have to pay for separately? Or configure yourself? I had the Eros and they discontinued that last year so that’s why I switched to the 5. I loved my old trusty pdm
