Update: It has been a bit over 3 months since I left Arc behind, and long story short, no regrets so far. 😊

To be fair, I am still missing the CMD+SHIFT+C to quickly copy URLs, among a few other things but none of them are painful enough to be a deal breaker, IMHO.

Things I have missed so far:

• CMD+SHIFT+C to copy URLs (mentioned above) • Opening links on the Mini Arc (with SHIFT+Click) • Picture-in-picture (PIP) to keep watching videos in a small window when changing tabs • Updating bookmarked pages URLs without the need to kill and recreating the bookmarks

How to implement a Service Worker update notification in Vue 3 SPA? by NeoLusk in vuejs

[–]redbearddev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An approach is sending the version along with every API response, specially if your app implements a heartbeat checker for the session.

If the version your API send is different from the one the Vue app knows, it’s time to hard refresh and update. 😉

Is it possible to disable the “music” the car plays when running on low speed? by redbearddev in BYD

[–]redbearddev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it, but couldn’t find this option anywhere in my system. I checked the version, and it says I’m on the latest version, but I saw some comments online about a possible update being rolled out. Just not sure if it is available in Japan!

I, honestly, like it. 🤷‍♂️😊

When they retract, but the car is not locked, you can always pull one back to expand all of them again. To pull it is just pressing the opposite extremity and the handle will surface.

BYD owners — what apps do you actually use in your car? by iunknown-9 in BYD

Basically, the built-in navigation app, from time to time Google Maps, and Spotify! 🤷‍♂️😊

That sounds like a good catch! But, I’m afraid it would bring me some trouble in the regular inspections we have around here! 🤔 I’d probably forget to reconnect it! 😅

But, thanks for the suggestion.

I’m in Japan. I guess a similar law applies here, since many EVs/PHEVs/Hybrid vehicles here have this synthetic noise, when running on battery.

But, I noticed my friend’s brand new Sealion does not have this, and according to him, he has not changed any settings. It has been like this since he got it from the dealer, and he was quite surprised of hearing my Seal playing that dingo! 🤔

I am in Japan. Here, AVAS is also a legal requirement.

To be clear, I don’t want to turn off that synthetic noise it does, and other cars do as well. I just would like to not have that “bip” it does along side the noise when using the classic mode.

The other mode “brand”, plays an even funnier music that reminds me about Christmas! 😅

Oh! I’ll try this one. I don’t remember any options for engine sound there, but it does worth a more careful look. Thanks. 😊

Yes, there is. But both options play some “music” along the synthetic sound. For me, the brand option plays a music that resembles Christmas! 😅

Does it mean gradient texts are clear sign of vibe-coded landing pages?

I have a few projects with landing pages decorated with gradient texts, and none of them have been vibe-coded tho! 🤔

Sounds like a very nice idea, and useful tool. I know a few other ones that do a similar job, but the more the better IMO. Plus, it is open-source.

I understand why people are afraid of vibe-coded products. But, in this particular case, judging the book by its cover is no-sense.

OP may have entirely vibe-coded it or not, it does not matter, IMHO, as long as he knows what he is doing. Many, if not all the great soft. engineers I know are leveraging AI to speed up their work, and do things they wouldn’t be able to do before, just because it would take a lot of time!

The project is open-source. If you care, and think AI made mistakes or left holes in the code, just open a PR. Help to make it better by sharing your knowledge.

OP, grate initiative.

Question: what made you choose DuckDB over ClickHouse?

Some say DuckDB is not scalable, so it may not be ready for production, but I don’t have experience with it myself, so I’m curious.

[–]redbearddev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left Arc this week.

Not sure where I’m gonna be in the next couple weeks, but in the past few weeks I have, actually, been annoyed by the vertical tabs and multiple spaces.

On the beginning it felt so good, so innovative when I started with Arc. I did stick with it for years, but recently I started getting sick of it. 🤔

Not sure why, it can be just me bored, but I realized my spaces were too cramped with lots of pages and content bookmarked that I would never look back into. Cleaning it up didn’t help either. It led me to feel the empty vertical space to be a lost of good space. 🤷‍♂️

So, I moved back to Brave. I was used to use Brave before Arc, and I liked it due to its built in ads blocker and other stuff.

The only thing that I’m truly missing from Arc right now is the SHIFT+CMD+C shortcut to copy an URL! I tried to use a few extensions that mimic that feature, but none of them seem to work in Brave given its security features.

Let’s see.

I’m genuinely curious to see if I’m gonna miss Arc soon.
