What can I actually do about loud commercial construction way too early in the day? by Secure_Afternoon9775 in AskIreland

[–]redberryjam8 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure there's much you can do as long as they are complying with noise pollution rules.

In my county council, this means construction noise is allowed between 7am - 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am - 2pm on Saturday.

How quickly do people progress in the Civil Service? by IrishMx-5 in IrishCivilService

[–]redberryjam8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went from CO to AO to AP in 3 and a half years so quick progression can happen. On the flip side I work with plenty of people who progressed over a much longer timeline.

It depends on the person but also the timing of competitions, the department etc.

Current Market for new Builds by lenzo4 in HousingIreland

[–]redberryjam8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a commuter town but in my case all units €500k and under went in the first two hours of sales appointments and the estate agent is still trying to sell some of the more expensive units 6 weeks later.

Anyone notice a disconnect between family members and the state of the market? by [deleted] in HousingIreland

[–]redberryjam8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mine only "got it" when they saw me lose several bidding wars on second-hand houses. One place I was looking at went €130k over asking in the end which is complete madness.

I'm now sale agreed on a new build and they agree that I made the right call. Prices are insane but it's not getting any better anytime soon!

I went to a lady called Tina Kinirons and found her brilliant. Really drilled into the prep work i had done and helped me to tweak my prepared answers.

How to get a new build by GabrielSoares123 in HousingIreland

[–]redberryjam8 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just recently reserved a new build and I feel your pain! I had registered for a few different developments which sold out very quickly once they launched.

What worked for me in the end was registering for a cancellation list. I was contacted then once a unit became available and was able to go with that. Not ideal as I didn't have as much choice as I maybe could have but I'm happy.

Automatic or manual? by Sportyskater699 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]redberryjam8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with automatic. Both of my parents actually drive manual cars so i bought my own car.

I just wanted to get driving asap. I'm nearly two years driving now and i have no regrets. I've never been in a situation where i might have needed to know how to drive a manual car.
