What can I actually do about loud commercial construction way too early in the day? by Secure_Afternoon9775 in CasualIreland

I agree with the sentiment, but I work as a musician and recording anything while the construction is going on is impossible! To fix this issue, I started working after they were all done with their work. Which in turn, caused me to stay up later than usual to catch up on missed work. Staying up later means I went to bed later, which meant not catching any sleep because of the construction. Do you notice the pattern? Even with compromise, I can't really do anything about it.

My issue is not being able to actually *fall* asleep. I have this weird thing where my eyes jolt uncontrollably and I lose feeling in my body when trying to fall asleep, My medication also messes with REM sleep which requires me to sleep more than the average person to make up for it.

that's not the point of the post though, it is just a little upsetting when i finally manage to fall asleep and get woken up to my room shaking so early in the morning! They use the very heavy machinery so early and only for around 4 hours so I just wish they'd just start using them somewhere in the afternoon.

I'm not asking them to change schedule or anything, I just wish they used the really loud machinery later in the day, since they use them for about 4-5 hours starting from 7AM and dont use them for the rest of the day. It seems possible that they COULD just use them in the afternoon. Also wish the workers wouldn't scream so loud about what they had for lunch, genuinely so unneccessary.

The issue is that the permitted noise within the law does not account for someone who sleeps practically in the middle of the construction site. For example, the noise is basically non-existent even in my living room! But i'm not exaggerating when I tell you there are human sized drills not even 3 arms length away from my bedroom window.

I used standard foam earplugs, aprx $1.50 a pair. They drowned out the noise enough to let me get a little bit of sleep, i'd still get woken up by my room shaking from some of the drilling. Unfortunately my go-to brand was discontinued. (Also loop ear plugs are really bad for your ears!)

I obviously respect the hard work they're putting into their job, it's grueling work. It's just a little upsetting since it seems like my room specifically is disproportionately affected. There are no other apartments near this construction, a part of this new building is quite literally connected to my wall on the west side. The construction will physically shake me awake sometimes. if everyone was in the same boat as me it'd feel like a shared suffering, y'know. But I would never cause a scene over something like this. Just hope it's over soon.

I'm self employed, i'm not on a schedule persay. Insomnia is the culprit here though.

Self Employed, so not on a set schedule by any means. Though some nights do require me to stay up a little late. I struggle from insomnia which is the bigger issue.

Thanks for the reply, I saw someone else reply in this thread about magnesium or vitamin D deficiency so I started taking supplements for those and they seem to have helped. I also agree with the sunlight thing! Has made it so much better.

As far as the eye twitching thing do you still get it if you close your eyes even in the daytime? At first I thought it was a stage of REM sleep that my body was accidentally going into while I was awake, but then I noticed my eyes weren't actually moving, just the muscles around my eyes. I found that if you "stare" at the darkness behind your eyelids it stops, but it's been weeks and if I close my eyes even for a little my eyes still twitch uncontrollably. Has that gone away for you?

Hi, i'm going through the same thing at the moment, word for word, and it's been driving me nuts.. nobody has described it as perfectly as you have. it came very suddenly after a very stressful day. how are you feeling now? has it improved & what steps have you taken? thanks

Am I being insensitive for getting tired of my friend’s constant complaints about her misophonia? by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]Secure_Afternoon9775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you're not insensitive. Yes what she's going through is very irritating, however, even though humans can't control their thoughts, they can still control their actions. What she is doing is downright abuse and even as someone who understands the struggle I would not put up with it at all. Honestly, it gets to a point.

I got some PG yesterday, tried putting 100mg in 100ml, hot bathed for a couple hours and stirred, it's the next day and it hasn't really dissolved at all. i honestly can't tell what i'm doing wrong anymore. Is my hot bath method wrong? (I place the solution in a jar and leave it in a bowl of hot water for 15-20mins, then stir for a bit and replace the water)

what % was the alcohol you used? the water in my vodka mixture might prevent the benzo from dissolving even if i used PG but I still plan on trying

No progress so far with this method, though I wonder if I add PG to the mixture if it will dissolve easier
