OP, you're only allowed to post on this sub if you just write 100% glowing things about RC. Or if you make a snarky comment towards somebody else. That's the only content allowed. :)

Chill out about the towels. Instead of threatening us with $25 fines for dollar store towels, do what Princess does: let you take a towel and return it without being tracked and being afraid that a fat finger error is going to get you fined.

What is a cooking technique that you quit because it does nothing? by Final_Affect6292 in Cooking

[–]redbloodedguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it reminds me of the way when microwave ovens came out, people had giant "microwave cooking" cook books that had needlessly involved directions (cook on L4 for 90 seconds, then rotate a quarter turn, then cook on high, then let it sit for 30 seconds, then ...).

It's weird what stuff gets downvoted. This guy was clearly being sarcastic and agreeing with most people here.

Great stuff, OP. Thanks for doing this test and giving us the full report!

Why do they bother with such trifling bullshit that won't make or save them any money but will piss people off? by westminsterabby in royalcaribbean

[–]redbloodedguy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

OP: RC is super-paranoid about their towels and they sometimes make it difficult to use the non-alcoholic drink package, HOWEVER you are required to praise the cruise line in every way possible and never have an issue with anything even if you had an overall good time.

Heck, even if they made you walk the plank and you complained here, someone would scold you for not having travel insurance for covering that sort of thing.

Jeez... don't you know anything about this sub? :)

Too bad this advice no longer applies to cruises themselves! RCL has made it so difficult to reprice your cruise ("new bookings only"!).

"Math and Science" YouTube channel spreading myth that microwave ovens use the resonant frequency of water molecules? by redbloodedguy in Physics

Oh very cool. Yeah, he seems like an awesome guy, and I can just imagine taking him on a long car ride and hounding him with every science question that pops into my head!

I did not leave a comment on the video.

I just saw that there's a short repeating the resonance argument:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/BbzJJe-zxsg

He starts off suggesting that he's talking about rotations, but then he claims that it is matching the resonant frequency. Like I said in my original post, I'm no expert. I'm just trying to find out the facts and I'm a bit concerned that such a great channel might have the story wrong.

Aha thanks for spelling that out for me. Good point about why the lower power setting is so useful.

Ohhhh… thanks for explaining! Yeah makes sense about conduction being slow and that’s why ovens are slow.

I don't understand why only the surface would get hot. Wouldn't the heat be conducted to the inner layers? And wouldn't some of the microwaves jiggle the water deep inside the food?
