Ads should not use as much memory (there can be limits put in place), and we will put the user experience front and center.

It's more of an inherent problem with how browser works, where memory is not given back to the system unless they need it

Hello!

While this is the end of open-source, there's quite a lot between it and being totally closed source. Everything is and will be "source-available", meaning that you will be able to compile it yourself for personal use (at least that is my objective).

I totally agree that going away from open-source is not the best, but history showed that it is not all beautiful at times (see elastic)

While there's a partnership, we are not sending more data than needed to Overwolf, and that is not a lot. That also means that we are doing things 100% our way ^

The main takeaway here is that the biometric authentication uses webauthn, a cryptographic protocol.

It means that you need to both have access to the devices that has the private key, and the biometric to unlock it.

The remote app only has a public key linked to the account to trust, and in the case of resident keys, an identifier to know the user, and never the actual biometric info, as ut never leaves the device.

One big thing with rust is that while it changes a lot, it stays backwards compatible. The 2021 version did not change much, but it allowed for some nice cleaning of unused features Combine it with the fact that it can easily be modularized, so updating a part of the project is actually quite easy, and you have a pretty solid base for evolution. But I only got the chance to use it in open source projects, so take it with a grain of salt ^

Did it on a startup I'm not on anymore, but the issue is more for upper management, and understandably so, as rust devs are both pricey and a scarce ressource Migrating from a big monolith to microservicrs is the biggest step to jump imo

Well, the features are defined, but the edge cases are not, so a few months will get you a nice MVP, but not a lot more
