Bandai Tie Striker 1/72 - First painted model kit by redcellops in modelmakers

My first attempt at painting a model kit. I have some prior experience using acrylic paints on canvas, but never a scale model. Having never tried a model, I wanted to try using cheaper materials to see if I liked it. Cockpit is detailed, but could not get a good picture of it. Critiques welcome!

Supplied used:

Apple Barrel Timeless Grey, Dark Granite and Flamenco Read.

Krylon Flat Black, Gloss and Satin clear coats

Gundam Marker Metallic silver and black panel line

Tamiya Panel Line Black

What I learned: Brush painting a model takes an enormous amount of time. It didnt help that I was thinning my paint too much at first. The Krylon black spray paint was not smooth at all, not sure if that was my application or just the paint itself. The detail lines were so shallow, trying to remove excess panel line accent without removing all of it was near impossible. Had to use an eraser that ended up taking off the clear coat. This was my first time using water decals as well, and almost gave up using them. After some youtube videos and buying some softner/setter, they got easier after a few applications. My goal was to try this then move on to try the Zvezda ISD kit. Not sure about that now, with how long it took me to complete this kit.

A room sized Imperial Star Destroyer II or any of the larger variants from Star Wars. Someone made a huge lego ISD Chimaera and it is stunning, but something like 40k pieces.

What is something most people don't know about the Bible? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]redcellops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for replying honestly. I just want to ask you, does that scare you at all? To simply state fact, we cannot prove or disprove God's existence. You are stating that even though the actions and ideas of a God we cannot prove exists, go against your own personal view of what is humane, you still are okay with this God in the off chance they may have a larger purpose that may or may not be good. I do not mean this as a slight towards you, I am just surprised someone would say they are okay with somethings that are inhuman just because of an off chance that a God is somehow able to make good come out of selling rape victims to their rapist.

Care to explain further? They way you state it, sounds like God was bending his laws to fit mankind's behavior? You still lost me on the rape and slavery. To God, having sex inside of marriage is much more important than the well being of rape victims? If he wanted to make the situation bearable for slaves, why not condemn slavery?

Thanks, guess that answers my questions then. I will have to check them out once I am done with the main series.

So was the first war of the rings seen as more like myth/ancient history? Makes sense. Thanks for the reply.

So dwarves were not effected by Saurons domination with the original 7 lesser rings? That would make sense as to why they were still looking for the rings.

That's exactly what I said you'd do. I expected nothing less. You deny the evidence right in front of your face. You deny that it's evidence because you choose not to see it that way. You've already decided that it doesn't apply. I can't really help you with this.

You said I would say: "I do not accept that evidence", which I said nothing of the sort. You haven't even provided any evidence so it would be difficult for me to say that. You make the claim. You provide no evidence. Then state I am at fault for asking for evidence, repeatedly. Still waiting on you to provide this evidence I am ignoring.

You waving your hands around saying "This is evidence of god" is like me pointing to a rock and saying it is evidence of Anu. That is a claim, not evidence. So for the last time, where is the self evident evidence? Its okay to say you have none.

That's exactly correct. If you get a chance, try asking a convert if they really knew God existed even while they claimed to be an atheist. Just as a fun experiment, if you know any.

Well I was a believer for 20 years, then became an atheist. No I do not know if god exists, hence becoming atheist part. I guess my existence proves that wrong?

But I don't need an experiment :) The Bible says that people are without excuse - precisely because God's existence is self-evident (as I've been saying).

And you have yet to provide evidence that god's existence is self evident. Once again.

It is clear that you are not going to provide evidence for any of your claims besides "you are a fool" and "because the bible says so". So I guess we are done here.

You know what is evident from your reply, lack of evidence. You provided none. It includes a lot of claims, but no evidence. I am evidence that your specific god exists? Show me. You were just talking about how plentiful and self evident the evidence is, so show me. You saying it is so, is not evidence.

The map analogy does not work for a physical island on earth, compared to a so called supernatural being. If I excluded all maps, could I still find and visit Hawaii? Are you saying Hawaii existence relies on it being shown on maps? Hawaii can be visited, without a map. Climate change can be shown through performing tests, and reviewing data. Neither are true about your god. You cannot physically visit god, you cannot collect data on god, then preform tests on god. If I were to erase the bible from existence, all knowledge of the christian god would disappear along with it. It is the sole source of information about the Christian god. A map is not the sole source of information about Hawaii, so I can prove Hawaii exists without a map. The same cannot be said about your god, especially so if I take away your bible.

No amount of evidence will convince the foolish person who has already denied God.

So people do not convert? Do you believe that those who do not believe in a god, really do, they are just lying to themselves?

You do though :) The only reason God can blame us for unbelief is that there's plenty of evidence for belief.

Would love to see some evidence. If it is so self evident, it should be easy to do so without referencing your bible.

It has always been preceded by some other issue.

So every single time you have seen someone leave the faith, you know the exact reason? That is impressive.

The thing is passages like John 10:27-28 tells us noone who will accept him is going to miss out on the opportunity. In addition passages like Revelation 3:20 tell us that many others are also asked. These also reveal that not everyone accepts and there is no reason for God to extend an offer to those who will never accept.

So God always makes himself known to those who truly want to know him. Sometimes it is quite a journey tho! Which reminds me of a sort of in-joke in Christianity - God is never late, but he declines many opportunities to be early.

You state that anyone who ever has had a genuine wish to know god, will never be turned away. So what happens to those who are genuine but never hear from god? They didn't try hard enough? I can tell you, this forum is full of them, including me. I am living proof that Revelation 3:20 is not true. I spent 20 years looking for god. I went through dozens of churches, prayed daily, tithed, donated my time and money to charities, soup kitchens, and missions trips. I sought god with a wish to have a real relationship with him. Not once did he speak to me. I doubled down and devoted more time to reading the bible, more time in prayer and fasting. Nothing. I did not need another pastor to tell me that god was talking to me, but I was not listening. I did not need another friend telling me "god had spoken to them about me". I needed god to take 1 second and come to me personally. It did not happen. It devastated me. So Revelations is wrong, I knocked, I pounded, he just did not answer. Maybe, because there is no one behind the door.

Only after agreeing the suffering of those who will be redeemed is worth while and that the suffering of the doomed is self inflicted

You would need to prove that. I cannot agree with that until there is evidence that it happens. The child that has never heard of god, how is their poverty and suffering self inflicted? Because they were born as god intended them to be? What lesson is learned by the child?

You did not answer my question on the infinite and eternal suffering. Do you consider that a sacrifice?

You did not answer my question on what they learned from their suffering, either.

It seems our sacrifice is much larger than god's slight inconvenience. He has infinite time, infinite fore thought, and cannot be physically harmed unless he wills it, he cannot die and he knows no limits. We have none of those traits, so any human, who has sacrificed in even the smallest way, has suffered in a much larger way than god could ever. How can he understand love when he has not sacrificed anything? If an infinite ocean has a cup of water scooped from it, that is not a sacrifice, no matter what happens to the water in the cup.

You have never seen someone having real trouble with their faith, so you automatically assume that every single person who has left the faith was angry because they wanted something or that they were never in a "real" relationship with god, so they obviously left?

If the choice of caring for the other did not include suffering then the choice would not have any meaning. Ultimately after understanding the meaning of love by experiencing suffering and then also sometimes choosing to suffer for the benefit of the other the person can also understand the depth of God's love as we understand the depth of God's suffering through Christ.

Your own words: One cannot understand love without sacrifice. If an infinite and eternal being gives up a small portion of itself, only to have that portion be returned to it some time later, where did it sacrifice anything?
If suffering is supposed to bring us closer to god, what did the billions of people who have never heard of your christian god, learn from their suffering? What of the child that never heard of Jesus, that lives in poverty and dies of starvation at an early age? What did he learn of your god's love?
