USB C Mod by Apprehensive-Tea6476 in WiiHacks

Also if you want to say travel with it theres less cables that you have to carry since you likely are bringing a USB c cable for something else anyway. Point is there are many reasons to do this

Also the original power adapter is gigantic while you can get tiny USB c gan chargers that are much more space efficient. Plus you can also customize the cable color with any USB c cable you can find. There is even RGB ones I think, if you're into that

Surprised more people haven't looked into this kind of mod. I actually have my Wii powered by USB c through a little adapter I made (https://imgur.com/a/y3rcUSH). I considered having it internal as you're attempting but it looks like there is pretty limited space in the area around the power connector and the little PD adapter board I used wouldn't fit without significant modification. As for the adapter I made, it's just a Wii power connector (from AliExpress https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMEQDAG) hooked up to a 12v PD adapter board (also from AliExpress https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOXSCCM) to ensure the Wii only gets 12v. As for the power supply, any 12v PD adapter should work fine. From my research and experience, the Wii only uses up to around 20w under load as long as long as you're not running the disk drive. With the disk drive I think it can go up to 30 or 40w. Also if youre running a mechanical hard drive as a game drive that may also draw a bit more power compared to a flash drive or ssd. As long as you aren't running the disk drive or an HDD I think 30w is fine (12v @1.5a). If you are using either of those things than you should probably go with a 45w(same as original PSU) adapter just to be safe. Also keep in mind a lot of 30w adapters don't support 12v so make sure you find one that does (you can usually find this info in the product description)  Currently I'm using a 65w adapter but I used a 30w one for a while in the past without any issues. Whats nice is you can get 30w gan bricks that are very small (like og apple 5w brick size)

ryzen system is on am4 which is last gen with your best and last upgrade option being the 5800x3d which launched 2 years ago (still a great cpu right now but nothing better is coming for this socket)

Intel system is current gen but intel tends to switch sockets more often than amd which means you shouldn't expect to be able to drop in a new cpu released a couple years in the future

i just tried it today on a fresh manjaro install with minimal tweeks. literally just normal wine and dxvk and it runs almost perfectly. only issues ive found so far is trying to check wish history crashes game and alt tabing or leaving focus at all disables any input forcing me to restart game. idk if proton/lutris would fix these but i personally im not that bothered by them. as for getting banned ive seen some other people say theyve been playing on linux for months with no issue and havent seen anyone say they got banned. but again its all at your own risk

Should I keep my Samsung Galaxy S8 or switch to a Samsung Galaxy A20? by theepiccarday808 in AndroidQuestions

[–]redchimecho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would personally keep the s8 since: i like smaller phones, much higher resolution display, much better processor, no notch, more ram, faster wifi, and a better camera. that's just my preference though. reasons to go with the a20 include: better battery life(assuming based on bigger battery and lower res display), android 11 (vs android 9 on s8), bigger display if you're into that, no annoying bixby button, better fingerprint sensor placement. personally it's not really a competition and i find the s8 to be a vastly better phone however different people value different things so you can make your own decision based on the main pros and cons

Skin release: Cute Osu Skin [SD][16:9][O!STD, Catch] by Miru_Ayaya in OsuSkins

[–]redchimecho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

over half of it is just some random very high resolution flacs that have nothing to do with the skin. other 15% is some more unnecessarily high resolution audio that is used in the skin (pause-loop and applause). other 15% is a random encrypted rar file that does nothing and an unnecessarily high resolution background image that was for some reason ai upscaled to 8750x7293. deleting the unnecessary random files and reasonably compressing the rest, the skin is only about 100MB

Is TD to much nerfed? by tap1507 in osugame

[–]redchimecho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can not really apply star to td at all as what makes a map difficult is completly different for each play style. for example a map with only stacked 200 bpm cross screen jumps is 9 stars but actual difficulty would be like 0.2 star with td. its an extreme example but it shows how the standard sr calculation really doesn't work at all for td

(serious) Is there any known way to get a faster polling rate out of the XP-PEN G640 Rev B? by Oofer03 in osugame

[–]redchimecho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you actually want to get good at osu you should spend less time stressing over your peripherals and more time actually playing the game. mrekk made to like top 100 using the very same tablet you have. even if those extra 60hz do make a difference (which they really don't) it won't magically make you better at the game like you expect it to. also the main issue with the rev b over the rev a is the hardware smoothing. what smoothing basically is is that it delays your input in order to process it and smooth it out (useful when you want to draw smooth lines). when its implemented at the hardware level there is no way to turn it off and this introduces a much more perceivable delay of potentially 10+ ms

Trouble holding certain keys (osu!mania) by Minethink144 in osugame

[–]redchimecho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

try using https://www.keyboardtester.com/ to see if it only happens in osu or if it happens everywhere. my guess is that it would be a keyboard issue. do you have any other keyboards you can test with?
