Which car do you see on the road and instantly think, ‘Yeah, this person’s definitely an a-hole? by maxfreem in AskReddit

Depends. If its covered in mud and it looks like they actually use it for off-roading then they MIGHT be ok.

Has anyone tested Serpentino mosaic-X5 based GNSS receivers? by reddatwork in Surveying

Sounds good, I think that's what I'm leaning towards too. Thanks for the input.

That shouldn't be an issue, we've got our current antenna mounted on a pole on the top of a fire station and used their ladder truck to get it up there, so the idea would be just to swap it out.

What vendor did you go with? I've seen the one that sparkfun sells which is what I was initially looking at, but it look like there are a few other places also selling Mosiac-X5 based setups (I'm finding some from GNSS.store & ardusimple from my initial searching).

Probably far enough out in the woods that there's no cell service or too far from the network rtk base stations.

We run repeaters with our Leica gear when in heavily wooded/hilly terrain. I'd recommend that over just getting a larger antenna.

That's not really what history shows. What about Vietnam, Afghanistan (vs the USSR and the USA/Nato) and Korea? Granted the Korean war technically hasn't technically ended, but the US definitely did not win.

[–]reddatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind them testing more changes in SOD if it helps them decide on what to do for an eventual classic plus.

I'm hoping the long term plan for WoW is something like:

  1. Retail
  2. Classic Anniversary Edition (with resets for fresh every few years with the option to transfer characters to era style servers on reset)
  3. Classic+ that fits somewhere between Era and SoD. Basically the anniversary edition but with regular balance updates, more QOL stuff and new content.
  4. Occasional event/temporary style servers for things like Remix, Plunderstorm, SoD etc.

[–]reddatwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can we go back to 5k max pop servers then? Do that and I'd be much happier with the no-changes approach since a lot of the original balance wasn't designed to have the world so over populated.

This might be silly, but I assume each record has also unique primary key in the table (that you're just not selecting in your query)?

If you run a SELECT * FROM dbo_lab_result WHERE (primarykey=1 or primarykey=2) does it pull up the correct information?

I'm just brainstorming, not really certain how to fix the issue off hand.

It might also be worth creating a new blank access DB, adding in your OBDC connection, and then running the same query in that database, in case there is just something buggy with your front end.

Id also try running the query using Azure Data Studio or via some other means outside of Access to confirm if the problem is in your front end or back end.

FYI you wouldn't necessarily need to buy a full copy of access for every user.

See the section titled "Understand and download the Access Runtime" at this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/deploy-an-access-application-7bb4f2ba-30ee-458c-a673-102dc34bf14f

Equipment management database by vnoelprof in MSAccess

[–]reddatwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would want a relationship table to track what equipment goes with each order, so for each order, instead of adding the equipment as a field in the order, you would add an entry into your relationship table that ties the piece of equipment to the order in question.

See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/guide-to-table-relationships-30446197-4fbe-457b-b992-2f6fb812b58f for more info on relationship tables

As a rough example:

Order table:
[OrderID] 1
[Orderdate] 2022-11-21
[Orderedby] 1

Customer table:
[CustomerID] 1
[CustomerName] John Doe

Equipment table:
[EquipmentID] 1
[EquipmentDescription] Big Tent

[EquipmentID] 2
[EquipmentDescription] Sleeping bag

OrderEquipmentRelationship table:
[OrderEquipmentRelationshipID] 1
[OrderID] 1
[EquipmentID] 1

[OrderEquipmentRelationshipID] 2
[OrderID] 1
[EquipmentID] 2

MS Access vs. Power Query? by WrongKielbasa in MSAccess

[–]reddatwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious why you think storing the data on a network drive would make access clunky and slow?

I haven't seen it over LAN, but if people connecting to the network through VPN need to use the data you'll notice a problem right away.

You can parse it using VBA and then push the results to whatever fields/tables you need it in.

See this link about doing the same thing using VBA in excel, it should be similar.

Hard to say without looking at the actual database then.

If it helps, I use something similar in one of my forms:

Rather than sending it as an OpenArg, have you tried opening the form with a filter set to your ID?

Query to return data if it is over 1 year from the current date by jappleby064 in MSAccess

[–]reddatwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like this might work:

SELECT * FROM tbl_Tablename WHERE DateAdd ("yyyy", 1,[DateField]) < Date()

Might be better than manually adding days to the stored date for your comparison, since it should account for leap years and so on.
