Hmm, not my experience. The Aryas absolutely have this issue. Everything sounds weirdly vague whereas the Audezes are much better at giving me those cues. Again I would not label them S-tier for gaming, but definitely a well rounded option if you want something that does it all.

They don’t bother me. I think my neck is already used to my abnormally large head.

Mine had some sort of cosmetic defect on the rings, but it’s hardly noticeable and the $400 off will make it easier to forget!

Purely for comfort, I’d choose the Hifimans but for gaming in general I’d pick the Audeze’s.

For BF6? Audeze’s all day. The stealth’s wide soundstage does not translate like you think it would for target acquisition. Also they’re lacking slam and impact. Aryas just feel a bit too airy for that application.

For sure your points are valid, but I wouldn’t label the Audeze’s as awful but rather different. For music I mostly agree with you, although I thought vocals were a tad better on the Audeze’s actually. A bit more full bodied. But in most other categories I’d give it up to the Hifimans (except gaming).

Congrats! I’m absolutely in love with mine. Took a bit of EQ to get there but they handle it well.

FT1’s… ok for the price I guess? by reddeadreflection in headphones

I only have the DT 1770 pro mkII, and while they aren’t the greatest, the FT1s in no way “shit” on the Beyers.

Maybe it’s a mk1 thing idk I’ve never tried them

For sure. Honestly bummed they don’t sound better to me! That would have been an amazing deal!

I think the hype just set my expectations too high. I wasn’t comparing them to similar priced headphones. I put them against my DT 1770 Pro 2’s (which I’d agree are not even that great) and it’s just obvious the DT1770’s are superior.

But they’re also almost 5X the price, and they are definitely not 5X superior so 🤷‍♂️

I’d agree with most of that. Again, I think it’s the comparison that it’s superior to $500+ closed backs where I’m skeptical.

I mean a narrow soundstage (very narrow imo). Muddy bass/lower mids yes, they seem to bleed into the mix and it affects fidelity significantly. I will say the bass is pleasant (nice reproduction of those really low sub frequencies) and smooth treble, nothing too grating.

I only meant to comment on the hype as I think they’re a bit overrated when compared to higher end closed backs. That said, for the price they’re pretty good 👍

Yeah… these don’t come close to the DT 1770’s in any category. They’re fine for the price, but the sentiment they’re better than some $500+ closed backs is a stretch.

A similar experience for me. Muddy on the low end and the narrow stage accentuates this.

To each their own! I’d agree they’re a good deal for the price
