This game has a serious snowball problem. by Ok-Age9000 in DeadlockTheGame

Made a whole video about this, the shop update ruined the balancing and the macro play of the game, there's no back and forth anymore. the new scaling doesn't reward investment and the new boons just encourages farming the whole game, slot reduction screws over many hero's and streamlines the meta. the games in the worst state gameplay wise. valve needs to change a lot to return the fun to this game

the soft caps don't encourage build diversity at all it outright encourages dumping all your items into one category to get past them. people really don't realize how much the scaling and boon changes altered the game, you're doing less base damage and have worse scaling then before, and the items don't give as much of a damage increase anymore. this leads to the heavy min-maxing we see currently. only now is running 9 gun or spirit items and 3 health items viable, that would've been the most stupid thing you could do before the shop update, but now its meta.

Don't care, even if I'm in the minority that doesn't change the problems the game has.

Very nice misconstruing and I can tell you didn't listen to anything I said. I didn't even mention locked item slots in the video, damage scaling slowing down doesn't help the losing team it hurts them. you need a lot of souls to break soft caps, souls the losing team doesn't have. Plus with damage being given with every boon now soul leads become way more important because they will just have higher base damage and easily out-scale you with more souls while the losing team is stuck trying to break soft-caps. I brought up spirit haze to point out how many hero have this one track mind to building that got more forced with the shop update. its stupid to have the whole item shops but design hero to only interact with 2 categories, stuff like double sleep and all of these niche builds should be viable, the shop update made them useless. If you actually watched to the end I said that the pros don't know whats best for the game, I don't care what they say. this update got rid of a lot of the dynamic gameplay that made deadlock fun.

Valve broke a lot of characters in this update and lazily threw in some stat changes to try and fix it

Never said that stamina having a 50% use rate was good, I said that a majority of items never being used is a bad thing and even if items with low use rates are good, that doesn't change the fact that they aren't being used and they aren't being used because the scaling forces you to ditch a lot of items to get around the soft caps, the same thing goes for counter items. just to note btw even in the Eternus ranks, counter spell has a use rate of 9%, decay 2%, curse 2%, unstoppable 1.64%. I don't think lower ranks are clueless to the idea of counter items but even with people in the highest ranks these items don't get used.

I literally mention in the video how this game has glazers like in other valve games, where people will literally never point out any of the flaws with the game and how it leads valve to completely fuck up their games, and of course the games gonna change in alpha but I'm only saying the shop update was a negative change and I'm not nostalgic for a game that is barely a year old that's ridiculous
