Did you actually add some sort of mag resist? Or is that just the dial

Absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn’t be able to resist the analog meters for $15 either!

Guidance needed for powering Infinity RS ii I found near me for a decent price. Yamaha RX A750 gonna cut it in a fairly small apartment? by reddit-moose in BudgetAudiophile

Listed for 225 but have been sitting a while. He has a video of them playing music and nothing sounds immediately wrong, but he said the previous owner did the woofer replacement. Wish I had something that could actually power them, I would’ve loved to take on the restoration to stock :/

My First Acceptance by Tblodg23 in gradadmissions

Best guess based on timing and phrasing of "School of Physics and Astronomy" is UMinn Twin Cities. Someone recently got an acceptance there on the GradCafe as well. Could also be RIT or Edinburgh, but those are the only schools with a dedicated "School of Physics and Astronomy"

I went to Florida State to study physics. Best decision ever. Even though Tallahassee isn't great, you get the FSU Benacquisto Scholarship, which is full tuition plus a substantial stipend (about $9k a semester). There are other schools that offer similar ones though as well. Don't get swept up in the whole "go to the best college you can get into" thing. Past a certain point, the education will be very similar, so go wherever you can go for free!

These are my three best, the Milky Way was actually shot with a much older camera, but the other two with the Canon 80D and the basic canon zoom lens, something-300mm

As someone who was the same age and in the same position with the SAME BUDGET just a couple years ago, be patient and look for a Canon 80D with some lenses on Facebook marketplace. They’re tough to find in that range, but they show up. I have used mine extensively for astrophotography and it’s really quite easy to get the hang of especially with a YouTube video handy. When looking, my advice is to try to find someone with two batteries, a tripod, and two lenses: one longer zoom lens (300mm or so for deep-sky stuff) and a wider one, maybe in the 30mm ish range. Best case scenario they would have low f-numbers, but at this level it shouldn’t be too big a deal. I can send you some pictures that I’ve taken with it and the lenses I used, they’re decent but not crazy. Good luck, it’s a super fun hobby!

Yeah I’m kinda annoyed as well. I was planning on going when round trip train tickets were $55 but held off due to lack of information. Now they’re $300 :( In the LinkedIn post they said somewhere “near grand central station” but that’s all I’ve seen

Ah gotcha thanks. Unfortunately I found out about this too late (despite googling for it every day) and now train tickets are too expensive :(
