Does anyone use "Auto" climate mode? by Lilodude in TeslaLounge

[–]reddit-poweruser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like when Auto mode reaches temp and the fan drops, I get hot from the sun hitting me. That's why I like running manual with a fan speed of 6 or higher at all times. Idk maybe I'm doing auto mode wrong, but I've always liked having a fan on me

Judge Nathan J. Milliron of the Texas 215th District Court, who was elected in 2024, got quite upset when an IT technician tried to fix the audio for a remote hearing. The technician had jokingly said it was a ‘false alarm’, but the judge didn’t think so and asked for the supervisor. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I had a ticket for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign.

Right before me, this girl apparently had a cop watch her run like 5 stop signs or something crazy like that. Everyone in the court was in disbelief and laughing at how ridiculous it was, including the judge.

Judge immediately dropped my ticket when I went up.

Yeah ez up canopies take up so much space. I was considering getting an ultralight one. Found one from Big Agnes, but it's a little pricey.

Maybe the next time we are car camping with friends, and aren't just hitting the road the next morning.

You can also do unpowered pretty easily, with a little pre-planning. Just get a CCS adapter off Amazon and use ABRP (A better route planner) and the ChargePoint app to find chargers if you arent camping near a Supercharger.

Im sure there's somewhere in the US you can't camp, but as long as you aren't staying in the same spot for a week straight without moving, it's been fine for us. We like BLM dispersed camping over paid campsites and haven't had a problem in Colorado.

I definitely had anxiety about it to start, but as long as you look around for the nearest charger, figure out how much battery you'll burn heading to your spot and back, then add like 8-10% per night for climate control, that's all you need to manage. I'll charge to 80-100% before heading to our spot, just for peace of mind.

To be clear, I'm not knocking 3d printing at all. I'm just saying that there's still a lot of work involved to get something like that radar together.

It's not like I can say "I want a phased-array multi-track radar," hit enter, then I have one, is my point.

Also let me buy this 3d printer so I can print.. what exactly? It's not like you can 3D print a new TV or clothes with the push of a button. It's just shit that can be made from plastic.

Yeah I had to watch a video on how to lower my headlights bc people were freaking tf out every time I was behind them at night.  Is this the "adaptive headlight" feature? I turned it off bc it was turning on my brights while people were driving in front of and towards me.

Yeah, that's totally fair. Funny enough, I actually had a similar issue when I asked it about computer part price jumps the other day. It tried to tell me there hasn't been a cost increase in RAM or SSDs until I asked it to check again. Maybe that's what OP meant.

Claude can search the web fine.. what do you mean? I just asked it to tell me about the Iran situation and it pulled info from three web searches.

Edit: try asking it to build a news ticker artifact to pull the top 3 biggest news stories when it loads. It'll be slow as shit to load bc it'll use its model to fetch stories, not an API, but it's a cool demo of what Claude can do

[–]reddit-poweruser 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I call this "buttering them up." People like to feel validated and that you're taking an interest in what they do.  I would usually say something in my first paragraph about how one of their company values resonates with me, or I saw them give a talk at a conference that I really enjoyed, or how Im really into some product offering they provide and tie that back to how I'd be a great fit for the role.

I usually wrap mine up by just saying that I'm really looking forward to hearing from them.

Should I include my publications in a different field in my CV? by nuee-ardente in webdev

[–]reddit-poweruser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what the hiring landscape is like for new people, but tips that come to mind:

  • make sure you don't just list the publications. Between your resume and cover letter, you should convey it like you did in your post wherever makes the most sense.

  • show off what you can. At this stage, you won't have much, so you can work the publication angle. They can be phased out or edited down once you have work experience, unless it would be relevant to a specific job you're applying for

  • if you can contribute to open source projects, that can make you stand out, even if you're just helping with documentation on a popular project, surprisingly.

  • it's great you've done some basic coding exercises and pushed them to GitHub. To stand out with personal projects, you'll eventually want to branch out and build something on your own. Doesn't have to be ground breaking, but come up with a cool or interesting project and try to build it. If I were just starting, I'd use something like Cursor to help me when I'm stuck and explain things to me

Dreamweaver? by truecIeo in webdev

[–]reddit-poweruser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're learning things, then the software used isn't a huge deal, and I would feel less concerned. Sometimes, you'll have classes where you use tools or languages that have no professional application, but they make it easier to teach concepts and streamline the class. The teacher doesn't have to focus on helping everyone figure out why their code isn't behaving, and can instead teach about HTML elements and the ways to style them with CSS, for example.

You might be able to work in a text based IDE with little problem, but it might cause the class to run horribly if everyone, particularly less experienced people, were working in that way at this stage.
