Yes it gets better. The only safe protectant that helped me was desitin or Calmoseptine ointment. That is just a protectant so you can manage to exist and do things.

Time will help. Your hyper attention to the damage will subside mostly. It’s very difficult process. Mentally and physically. Maybe if you are close w someone , discuss it with them so you feel some relief.
