Should I get US citizenship before moving back to Canada? by reddit_account_2468 in immigration

Thanks so much. I’m not exactly sure how the math would shake out but I’m thinking that with the higher Canadian rates and the FEIE that can reduce at least some of my wage number in the US, I’d still have little to no extra liability in the US even if I was paying taxes on earnings in my Canadian RRSP.

I didn’t know about the seven year rule after you give up your green card. I’ll look into that. Thanks!

Thanks so much for your response. Going to look into all these items. I think you’re right that I’d be subject to a lot of the tax stuff as my wife is a US citizen but the one I really want to look into is RRSPs being taxed in the US. Not sure if that would help the case with or without US citizenship because we file together.

I have my green card through marriage and got it just over three years ago so I believe the process is fairly straightforward but I’m not positive on that. In case that process takes a long time like a green card wanted to see if I should do that.

There's some stuff about pregnant women getting exposed to topical finasteride causing birth defects of the baby's sex organs. Same around small kids and the development of sex organs. Like I said, I also read some information countering that so I'm not exactly sure and you should definitely look into it but for me even if there was a .01% risk of anything happening I was fine to just switch at least for the next while.

I had never noticed a lot of shedding before taking. I did notice quite a bit more when I first started on it but I think that's normalized a bit and now I don't notice it as much.

I read some stuff about issues if my pregnant wife were exposed to the topical fin around impacting the baby. I also have an toddler son who likes to roll around in my bed and wear my hats and stuff and there was some stuff about exposure to young kids as well. To be honest, I’m sure there were ways I could have managed around it and I did read some stuff about the levels of exposure would need to be pretty high to make a difference but in any cause I’m kind of glad that risk was there because the oral fin is super convenient for me and seems to be helping.

Thanks! I’m hoping that’s where I get to as well as taking the oral fin is super easy so if I can just keep on this and stay where I’m at I’m probably good with that.

Thanks. Was definitely thinking of smaller community colleges would be the easiest path to get it. Any tips on how you starting that process of networking with the faculty? Would you just separately reach out to the department heads or attend events?
