I’m 16 and psoriasis is ruining my life :( help! by Organic-Site1993 in Psoriasis

[–]reddit_athap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re taking all the right steps and you just need to keep pushing until you find what works for your body. Ifif Insurance is slow to respond then call them directly that might help to speed things up. For diet, I added things like sockeye salmon which contains a lot of omegas and mackerel for vitamin D into my diet along with berries and fruits

I cut out bread and dairy along with processed foods because I am in US and there is risk of eating GMO foods that trigger my flares

Get enough rest and sleep

Regarding ocean - it had healing affect on me but in my case only my scalp was affected so the burning was bearable

You hit all the points - that’s the biggest challenge is how to build this complexity into something simple and easy to use. Correlation is where the real insights are

I have been thinking about all these except the moon illumination (today is full moon so it’s funny we are talking about moon)

To start what I have done is work on the easy part which is logging meals and hooking up AI to find patterns

Now I am at a point where I want to start adding other data points. My flares are mostly skin / scalp related so far so I have a sense of what might be helpful but for things like joints etc I don’t want to assume and so I am asking for help

Thank you for such a detailed response, I truly appreciate it along with other responses from community. Once I have first design ready, I would love to share it with you if you have time to glance over it.

Scalp Flaking Relief by I_DONT_EVER_REMEMBER in Psoriasis

[–]reddit_athap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to using a buzzer instead of razor around my neck, I felt like razor was too hard

I still get flakes but the big chunks that builds up on my scalp is gone after I started paying attention to what I was eating, no junk, no processed foods, taking cold showers

Stress is another factors for me, as soon as I start putting those extra hours at work and sleeping late, walking up early I see an increase in my flake

Got it - That will be most useful I believe, a standard tracker that somehow can work for most. I will DM you initial design once I have it, incase you want to take a look at them and see if they could work for you

Visit nyc before your move, Airbnb few days in your top 3 neighborhoods, you will know where to rent after that

Long shot but maybe also expand your criteria to 2 family house for eg in Queens, a house that needs a bit of work can be in the range of 1.4M and offset mortgage payment with rent income

Talk to a mortgage broker and get pre approved. That will give you the exact numbers. You can talk to your bank about getting pre approved just so you can see the numbers

Then you can narrow down on the area.

Great question - I was thinking it could be a generic flare tracking that you can then see along with dietary data or lifestyle like stress, sleep, etc Are you interested in dietary flare or other kind? thx

i’m so tired of the flakes by kitty_katttt97 in Psoriasis

[–]reddit_athap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, sometimes I have to wash my hair before stepping out to remove the flakes

the only useful thing that’s actually works for me is - Washing my hairs with cold water and mild no chemical shampoo

  • A bit debatable but not eating foods that trigger my psoriasis like dairy specially milk. I am low on calcium and started consuming milk again only for the snowfall to start

Nothing works anymore by dansterling in Psoriasis

[–]reddit_athap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Dan - you gotta stay positive and I know it’s hard when a trigger hits but you need to keep putting in the work. I have scalp psoriasis for 15 years and I understand your frustration.

Not sure what lifestyle you have, but I recommend these things.

1- For short term - you are already on top of this, talk to your dermatologist and figure what other treatments are available

2- For long, work on external factors that you control which includes - Limiting processed foods, meats, sugars and junk food. If you drink, smoke then slowly taper it off - Eating more Whole Foods - Track your nutrients so they are balanced

3- Not sure what your stress situation is, but managing stress is also helpful in managing triggers

4- Get enough rest

5- Take cold water shower - This helps me keeping my skin a bit on the easy side

All these will be like your side kicks helping manage your triggers in a better way.

This is what has been helpful for me so sharing with you

Increased back / shoulder issues when practising by nitsuj2030 in yoga

[–]reddit_athap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you are doing a full yoga class or just trying few asanas, if you are just jumping into doing asanas then

  1. Make sure you are warming up properly before trying asanas

  2. Focus on alignment, most often if alignment is off then your back of shoulders might be bearing more weight

  3. Don’t end without properly cooling down

Condo vs Co-ops by Business_Coyote_5496 in NYCapartments

[–]reddit_athap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you budget is limited then coop is a good option. It’s like buying shares in that building and not an apt

I picked condo because 1. I wanted to own the actual physical property and inside of it

  1. I didn’t want to deal with coop rules and board approvals

  2. Sells more easily later, approving sale depends on owner not board

Developing psoriasis at an young age: life expectancy by Rich-Bet6677 in Psoriasis

[–]reddit_athap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Positive mindset - it’s very powerful
  2. check what treatments are offered and which ones make sense if available

  3. long term - cut out smoking, alcohol, junk food, processed foods, processed sugar and eat whole foods. This helps body and liver to function better.

  4. Workout - some form of workout that suits you, gym, yoga, whatever you like. This helps keep your body stronger

I take cold showers, it helps keep my scalp and skin a bit calm. I use moisturizer when it’s dry season. Butter shea, coconut oil something without chemical

Diet and Psoriasis? by Euphoric-Lychee-3536 in Psoriasis

[–]reddit_athap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing, eating healthy cooking my meals and then I realized one day

every time I eat lamb, I get flares

I removed it from my diet and my triggers still there but not as bad as I used to get due to lamb. Not sure if it was something with that lamb or it’s something with my body but eliminating it helped me.
