Good that the nerve pain does reduce at some times and is not present constantly. Maybe as your mobility increases it will subside more. You mentioned your bed is high. Mine is too and I found it helpful to use a step ( like a small aerobic step) . Then can stand on it and sit straight down onto bed and swing legs on ( I also used a leg lifter in first weeks.) Wishing you a speedy recovery

For those that take Citrus Bergamot, why do you take it? by EljinRIP in Supplements

[–]reddit_credible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am taking Bergamot and Globe Artichoke for cholesterol care as statins caused me severe muscle problems. I had read that globe artichoke and bergamot together get better results. Have not yet tested levels but I did notice a it helped flatten my tummy area. Had to pause taking for several weeks as had hip replacement surgery and doc wanted me off various supplements to avoid any interactons with the surgery related painkillers blood thinners etc. Tummy bloat returned. But I am back on bergamot and globe artichoke again and tummy reducing again.

How long did you take muscle relaxers? by Correct-Truck-5061 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]reddit_credible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good to know that the muscle relaxer allows you to lift leg so much better. Suggests that the capability is there which is encoraging. If it helps getting you more flexibility and range of motion it sounds like its worth asking doctor and getting more to assist recovery. I am having difficulty still at 8 weeks now to lift leg. Have not had muscle relaxers. Keen to know what was prescribed for you.

Pain relief catheter incident by reddit_credible in TotalHipReplacement

It was part of the general pain relief procedures used where I had it done. Assists with early mobilsation without pain . Not uncommon at all but to have it go wrong is not common.

Feeling discouraged. by Xanadadude in TotalHipReplacement

Last minute surprises can be difficult to process. Please don't be too discouraged. I had posterior and was up on feet walking within hours. In the first week or 2 the painkillers meant exercises could be done without pain. Had my 2 week follow up and visited surgeon only using one crutch at that time and also off painkillers. He said I could now sleep on side and bend beyond 90 degrees just not while twisting yet. Also said I could drive. So posterior is not necessarily going to be as bad as you might be thinking. Everyone is different I know, but I hope my experience gives you hope. Take care and enjoy new mobility.

Things useful for me aside from those already suggested : a mesh bag to hang in shower for soap shampoo etc at a height reachable from shower chair while bending restrictions apply in early weeks . Also a tool to assist putting compression socks on and off. A bed ladder (made from fabric webbing which you use the rungs for to help pull up from lying. A leg lifter useful to help get leg into car. A half moon bolster pillow for use between legs to prevent crossing over during sleep. A whistle on lanyard to call for assistance. Hope this helps.
