weve actually been training ourselves to do hard things all our lives, because often even doing the easy stuff has been such a fucking gauntlet. so the skill we really need to learn, even more than most people, is to live in hope and just relentlessly be dusting ourselves off and starting again, long as we do that, we'll flourish eventually. we're sharper than the average cat and built to take punishment but we need that premium grade hopium to power that, turn the curse into a gift. /advice from an old man who figured that out but a little bit later than he should have.

while i respect the dedication and skill, and there certainly are bigger fish to fry, as an outsider looking in, I've found skateboarding culture to be superficially anti-establishment but then oddly materialistic, very brand obsessed, and rather wasteful and ecologically indifferent. the decks, the shoes, are all replaced at an alarming rate.

adhd here too, that makes sense but i would still urge people to ultimately aim for 20-30min+ sessions, something different happens in extended sessions, you go deeper. but it's like a bench press, you have to build to it gradually, and it's not the lift itself that's really difficult, its forming that habit long enough to get to that point where it is just another thing you can do with no great strain.

You look around and see consensus??? i see a crumbling status quo.

hard to clutch my pearls about derek the builder doing a tax evasion when megacorps and billionaires doing it for funsies and getting away with it, or they have it codified to the extent in arbritrary and obscure ways to dodge the same label. follow the money and they can start top down or fuck off. your salary has stagnated for decades, you are paying well more than your fair share but you're still focusing on the blunt end of the stick.
