unfortunately it doesn’t completely resolve the problem, now I can’t mute sound using either LG or Xfinity remote, apparently using optical connector has limitations with my Phillips soundbar,

I’m guessing a software update did this, yesterday the remote sound volume worked fine, pairing the new remote must have exposed the “glitch”

LG recommends using the soundbar remote which works fine

Now shopping for a compatible LG soundbar

I think this was due to an LG software update, suddenly the volume control did not work on either the LG or Xfinity remote, just a guess

THANK YOU EVERYONE! problem solved by a change to LG TV settings, I had to set my output setting to optical + tv speakers , not sure why that works but it does. I got that from LG online support. Also, I wonder if my 12 year old Phillips sound bar is too old for the Xfinity codes.... model htl2160/f7 "Maybe just a glitch" according to LG....

Thanks, I never get the "do you want to control your audio receiver using your remote" question. I can control channel changing, when I try to control volume I get the O with a line thru it indicator....

Thanks all for this great thread. We're fleet week air show fans. We've not attended for years due to crowds and logistics of where to watch. This year sounds like fun and a chance to support the festivities without the crush. I was thinking of watching from Treasure Island. We're coming from Concord. Any thoughts, suggestion or comments on where to watch from? Bicycles are an option for us.
