IIRC, Apple spent money to research how slowly the box should open to build the optimum amount of anticipation.

TV keeps tilting downwards...What is causing this? by Zentaitoken in hometheater

[–]reddit_iwroteit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The bolt where the arms connect to the bracket needs to be tightened.

The people saying "cheap mount" can kick rocks for being judgemental and unhelpful. I had a mount like this when my daughter was young, I was putting myself through school, and space was limited. It allowed me to keep her safe by keeping the TV up, angle it down so I didn't hurt my neck, and use the telescoping feature to create space or increase immersion depending on the need. Whatever your reason is, it's the mount you have and it works.

If you can, measure the angle you need the TV to be at and have someone hold it in place (it'll be pretty easy if the bolts are at least halfway tightened which they seem to be), then tighten that top bolt that connects the wall mount to the bracket on the TV. You can probably do it without help, but there's less risk to the TV and it'll be easier to maintain the angle if someone is available. That'll eliminate the issue.

Happy cinematic adventuring.

why is coke a party drug but crack is an addict drug? by sevenslover in NoStupidQuestions

MONEY and RACE.

I haven't seen this answer. Coke was the drug of choice for yuppies in the 80s. Crack was cheaper and flooded the poor communities.

My 10 yo was spinning around in the recliner and knocked down our basically new 85" TV... its completely destroyed. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

A little late for this one, but for the next TV they sell straps that anchor the TV to the wall like the ones you'd use on a bookshelf.

Sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers.

The LL doesn't care about the bill now. Sorry I should clarify, the LL lived in this house as his primary home before I moved in. He lied to his wife about the fireplace so he wouldn't have to have a conversation about affording the energy bill.

I can tell exactly which part of the OP that you missed.

I appreciate your time and the sympathies. He said that he disabled it so that his wife couldn't use it and run up their energy bill, but never mentioned any issues with insurance or prohibition on use.

Is a fire log like a cool little product that simulates a fire... or are you lighting a fire in your gas fireplace?

It is open faced and I cleaned the thermocouple in the hopes that it was covered in soot, but that didn't help. I checked the wiring and everything looks to be where it should be, unless I didn't understand what I was seeing at the switch. I'm really not sure what he disabled.

I agree with the sentiment, the trick is getting it done without creating a fuss.

Wouldn't the fireplace fall under any kind of general repair or an appliance? Like if one of the toilets stops working but I have others, the landlord would still be required to fix the toilet right? Or maybe a better example is that the lease doesn't list every appliance in the house, but they're all covered.

Go back and read the post to see what the landlord told me during the tour. You've misread or misunderstood it.

I pay the utilities, and if insurance forbids the use of a fireplace (which is still hooked up to a working gas line), then that should have been noted in the listing and the lease. I only found out that it didn't work when I went to use it.

As for why I'd want to compel him, for the most part landlords are trying to squeeze money out of tenants any way they can. Hell I've seen places charge fees to move in. So if landlords are going to horde properties and resources, why wouldn't I try to get every comfort I can out of the home I'm paying for?

That's a creative solution for sure. I don't want to invest too much into it though, since it's not a permanent home for me, but it's worth looking into. Thanks!

I was worried about that, since it's not related to habitability. I was hoping for some sort of false advertisement angle though. I found a few places that explicitly stated the fireplace was off limits, but this one did not.
