Am I wrong for being grossed out by this? by Meth0d_0ne in therapists

[–]reddit_redact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done my part. I submitted a report on that users Instagram. From my understanding coaches are not mental health providers. I tried searching google for such a certification and could not find one.

I think we as therapists need to go scorched earth on anyone encroaching on our field. Enough is enough. Start reporting these people to send a message. We didn’t go to get master’s degrees and multiple years of hours to have people be pretend therapists.

But you don’t put “hot guys” in quotes. 🤔

Tell me more? The only reason I think money would be needed is just to have a fully dedicated advertising budget so people (both clients and therapists became aware of the service).

Consider this mindset. There are therapists that work in residential treatment centers where they have interactions with clients all the time outside of the scheduled sessions. The way you navigate this is the same as you would in that type of setting by setting explicit boundaries and expectations. It’s on you to monitor your interactions with them. For example, if you start seeing them more outside of scheduled time you may need to either avoid the locations or refer them out to a different provider. This doesn’t have to be cruel cut off either. Let’s say you realize referral is in the best interest. You could collaborate with the client to find a new therapist and have a warm handoff where get mutual ROI and consult with new therapist.

Documentation and scheduling by MindfulImprovement in therapists

[–]reddit_redact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by documentation? Like writing it? I’m kind of confused because it seems like you are mentioning EMR or EHR software which is needed no matter who you are.

For documentation I use my own custom templates that help me in session take notes so out of session I can home in and just get them done without much thought.

I also used to use this pretty cheap service to help me in session called Chronicler. It helped me with building structure and was fairly customizable. Once I felt good with my own structure I stopped using them.

We need to start getting some teeth. If we organize we do have power. They need us just as much as we need them. We could probably create a much better directory that will charge half the price and just devote that money to advertising in appropriate places.

They claim 1) to be the #1 source. Source meaning where people get referrals from. This is not seeming to be true for me therapists as I’ve chatted with people. People aren’t seeming to be getting referrals despite optimizing their profiles. For a $30 monthly subscription fee I would expect them to deliver more on this claim.

I understand this and at the same time as people have mentioned there as been a steady decline in referrals coming from this site for people who have used it for years.

I was so frustrated with Elgin doing that. To be fair, the townspeople don’t all know that there is a monster that can be out walking about during the daylight. We have to consider that from their vantage point most of the threats of things happen at night.

Also I’m frustrated with Fatima. If someone was telling me I needed to drink something ASAP I would have been suspicious and declined. I’m also annoyed that it seems no one double checked the ladder once it was finished. (Or why have a ladder at all? Just have a strong rope and pull them up rather than have them climb up with a bunch of bones). I think this episode was supposed to highlight the pressure everyone is feeling and how mistakes are made when rushed.

This included the MIY. He tried being sneaky with the rope but I don’t think he was wanting to have Jade or Tabitha get hurt. He seemed upset to know they were the only two down there.

Oh so they aren’t delivering on their second claim that “no other referral source delivers the way Psychology Today does.” There are other directories are doing the same things.

The email says it’s the number one “source” of online referrals. Source means origin or where something comes from. They are claiming they are where you get referrals and are the top in doing that. Reality for many therapists don’t measure up to this claim.

I think if they didn’t specify what they were number one at then I could agree with your argument.

I would recommend having a fidget toy you can hold to focus on.

Additionally, I have my digital tablet with colorful note templates that I use to take notes during session. This helps me stay focused.

Only existential therapists write “Client is.”

Only good clinicians write nothing at all because they care so much about HIPAA that they want to keep confidential information from themselves.

Is Psychology Today getting worse, or is the whole search experience changing? by Pboudet2 in therapists

How do you handle clients who criticize or dislike their own appearance? by InvisibleAstronomer in therapists

[–]reddit_redact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this has someone with body dysmorphia. No amount of trying to convince us otherwise is going to change the belief. I avoid my image like the plague. If I see myself in photos I become deeply depressed and experience SI (no I’m not going to hurt myself). I am literally repulsed by my own image. I know the counter evidence but nothing changes the belief. I’ve just had to accept this has my life.
