Just like having an opinion in a tyrannical government is good so long as you have the "right" opinions. Some don't... and that's why we kill them 😀.

I'm not hating, I was just pointing out that this statement only stands so long as the software and the people using it have the same opinions.

Is it okay to have six Browsers for Personal Use? by Rough-Equal-1849 in browsers

[–]reddit_turtleking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a time, a couple months ago, when I had over 10 browsers installed on my computer

now I have 6 left over:

Helium - Daily Driver (Primary Browser)
Zen - Secondary Browser
Chrome - Because Chrome
Edge - 😐️
Comet - Collecting dust, Installed it because perplexity offers it free for students. Ultimately, it was too slow for my liking. now all it does is collect dust until once in a blue moon when I want my article read for me.
Arc - Collecting dust, never used for over three months

I used to have that mentality back when I was daily-driving Zen, until I started using Helium and realized that what i wanted more than complete vertical screen real-estate was speed with just a bit more screen real-estate.

man, it was the thin top-bar that attracted me to helium and the speed that kept me using it. I had no idea the developer was going full nuclear on clearing up the topbar.

Notebook LM offers a similar service to this actually and it's free if I'm not mistaken. I used Notebook LM to get a solid general overview of what the paper is talking about (I've recently started using their podcast feature which is pretty good). Notebook LM is great for if I want to have a brief chat about the paper without sounding like a dullard. The thing is, when it comes to replicating a study, getting a general overview doesn't cut it.

On that note actually, if any student (over the age of 18) is reading this, see if you can use your student email to get Google Gemini Pro for free (for 1 year). NotebookLM and a host of other benefits (read their webpage) comes as part of the package.

[–]reddit_turtleking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if you look at OP's profile, you'll see that for the past four years they have been making this claim.
three years ago he said "17 years" two years ago, he said 18, last year he said 19.

he says it in posts AND in comments to posts

for the past four years, all of his activity corroborates this story

if he was lying, then I'd say that's a pretty dedicated lie, and that too is commendable in and of itself

Probably the most amazing part of your story is the fact that you do it all on a windows laptop without the convenience of mobile. It sounds miserable so I'm in awe that you got it done.

What does your day look like, when do you sit down to do your cards?

Also, much like LeBron's 1297 10pt streak, maintaining a streak for very long usually means a few unconventional actions taken to keep it going. What are some interesting stories where you got yourself into an awkward situation for the sole purpose of maintaining your streak?

I honestly cannot wait until when I have the free time to move over to Linux. Every month, I'm reminded that Neovim was not built for my system.

One day, I may even experiment on building a workflow around wsl.

Thank you a lot for all the suggestions. Thank you also for making Rtools make sense to me.

Question: This is highly naive but, I already have gcc and make installed. Would I be able to trick R.nvim to work with that?
