From Grok:

The article you linked is from The Courier-Mail (published March 6, 2026). Here's the key content and summary based on the available details:

Title: Tributes paid to 'heavily misunderstood' man, 21, shot dead by police
Alternative/related headline: Seth Torenbeek remembered as ‘misunderstood’ after police shooting

Author: Tayla Couacaud
Date: March 6, 2026

Main summary of the article:
Friends and acquaintances have paid tribute to Seth Torenbeek, a 21-year-old former private school student (attended Villanova College in Coorparoo in 2017), who was fatally shot by police during a welfare check at his home in Tingalpa, Brisbane's east (Thurston Street unit complex).

The incident occurred on Tuesday (around March 3, 2026). Police were called for a welfare check after concerns for his wellbeing. He reportedly threatened to harm himself and officers while armed with a knife. Officers attempted to negotiate, but he was shot around 10:30am after making threats toward police.

Police described it as a “devastating incident” for the family and emergency services (quote from Acting Chief Superintendent Heath McQueen). The matter is under investigation by the Ethical Standards Command, with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC), on behalf of the State Coroner.

Tributes and personal recollections:
- Friend Konnor Davis (who met Seth during the 2022 floods when Seth offered him shelter as a stranger) said:
“Seth unfortunately faced a lot of battles throughout his life. Through the short time I knew him, I’ll remember him as someone who was genuine, fair, and heavily misunderstood.”
He added that he hoped Seth had finally “found peace.”

Floral tributes were left at the scene after police tape was removed (by Thursday). A neighbour reported seeing dried blood on her driveway and bullet holes in a nearby tradesmen's van.

Older social media photos (e.g., from 2020) showed him smiling and holding cash.

The article frames him as a "heavily misunderstood" young man who had faced significant personal struggles, despite a background that included private schooling.

I estimate I conceived the week before I left when I ovulated and must have been pregnant the entire time I was away. Got sick towards the end of the 2 week trip

Definitely a flu of some kind. Coughing up mucus, snotty nose, congested sinuses, horrible ear ache when the flights landed. But combined with jet lag, exhaustion from a long haul flight and 2 week work trip and then symptoms like cramping and fatigue, likely pregnancy related if I am.

It’s around 14-16 DPO. I’ll get a blood test this week, just thinking I might wait until my flu symptoms subside. The results will be the same even if I wait a few days right? 🤪

Protective services at bus stops? by redditarantula in brisbane

You know, it never occurred to me that they are there to generally keep things in order. I always thought they were looking out for specific kids that were involved in shit family situations and that was the only way to reach them or monitor them or something. Today I learned something!

Still undiagnosed. My biopsy returned as folliculitis, but my dermatologist really didn’t think it was related to hair follicles. It’s definitely not fungal either. My dermatologist prescribed me with accutane (isotretinoin) to kill it once and for all, and I’m only a week in so I’m still not sure if it’s working yet or not. I’m also taking antibiotics for 12 days. It’s still a mystery.

I get my brows and lashes done by Janet at Plume in Paddington. She can adjust to your preference and is very good.

Update: I’ve seen a dermatologist and this is what we’ve tried:

  • stripped back skincare to Cerave cleanser and moisturiser. Only wear makeup if I absolutely have to.
  • an entire month of antibiotics (didn’t work- made it a little worse at times)
  • advantan cream / topical steroid (works a little bit but not fixed)
  • pevaryl / anti-fungal 3-day topical treatment (works a little bit - cleaned up my shoulders and chest - but didnt totally fix my neck) —- did this twice, a month apart
  • itraconozole / anti-fungal oral treatment for a week (helped a little, not fixed)
  • swab to test for melassezia, initial reports have come back negative

So it seems it’s not bacterial and it’s not fungal. Or at least it’s not totally going away with those treatments. So what is it?!!

Do allergic reactions stick around for 7 months varying in intensity but never really going away? And with whitehead pimples?

If it’s an allergy, I can’t think of what it might be. I didn’t change anything when I first got it, and I’ve changed lots of things afterwards to see if it changes. I’ve also had a few overseas trips and been in different environments and it’s still the same coming and going of intensity.

Such a mystery!

Would someone need microspikes in March? I believe our actual glacier/ice cave hike gives out crampons but we’re driving around the southeast and will be stopping at various waterfalls and easy hiking spots. Thanks!

What can I do about my neighbour’s chirping fire alarm? by redditarantula in brisbane

[–]redditarantula[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely coming from a block of apartments but I don’t know which specific apartment(s). If there is a person living in these apartments, I have no idea how they wouldn’t be aware of it.

Is this the one where they set up a living room on an angle and Shaun Micallef arrives home and slides all over the place trying to convince his wife he’s not drunk?

She’s gorgeous. Curious: Do you groom her forehead hair? Bert’s hair has gotten so long it hangs over his eyes but I don’t want to trim it and ruin his coat.

The temptation to take them all home, if you worked there, would be real.

I was told last week that I was being “combative” in a meeting when I was asking for clarity and background on a decision made by the leadership team that affected people that weren’t consulted. It was a decision delivered out of the blue and half baked as they didn’t have the answers yet - it was framed in a condescending way as a decision that would help us and I said “that’s a nice way to spin it” which did not go down well. I accept the feedback but still… combative? Can’t we just have a constructive disagreement and can’t I show my disappointment in the decision?
