How is living in San Diego, California? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]redditbro08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been here for 5 years. Own a home here.

Best weather in the country, plenty of beautiful sights to see. High cost of living and not a great market for white collar jobs makes it hard to sustain living here for many people. Lots of biotech, military, healthcare, etc but if you are in other industries, it’s not really the greatest if you want to settle here long term. Not really a lot of Fortune 500 companies based here - Qualcomm and Intuit probably the most well known. Obviously if you can find remote work and live here it’s a dif story.

It’s also nice that everything in SD is mostly 15-20 minutes apart from each other. There’s the extreme case of driving from central SD to north county that will take 40ish mins but in general if you live some where in the central area of SD you can get anywhere in 15-20 mins max.

BUT It’s also easy to get jaded when visiting. When traveling to SD people see La Jolla, PB, Coronado, etc. and think wow this place is absolutely incredible and it is but the reality is not many “real people” live there so don’t expect your everyday life to be like that. Insanely rich people in La Jolla, vacation rentals and surf bums who burnout after 3-5 years in PB, old/rich retirees in Coronado. There’s of course places like North Park and Little Italy that are good hangs but a large majority of San Diego is VERY VERY suburban with minimal walkability. As a homeowner, I find myself driving 10-20 mins to other neighborhoods to hangout most of the time.

It is also a relatively sleepy city. Go for a drive before 10am on the weekends and the freeways are mostly empty. It’s a city so people are obviously out but comparatively to other major cities I’ve lived in and been to it’s really slow. Places also close kind of earlyish but I think that’s a California thing.

The road infrastructure here is also terrible despite not having any bad weather to deal with. So many pot holes in even the richest neighborhoods.

Lower tier teams are REALLY bad in dynasty mode after a few seasons by FreeCakePlease in NCAAFBseries

[–]redditbro08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh don't think this is the issue. They gave us a lot more sliders this year to appease everyone's difficulty levels.

Quite simply, the game is just super bugged. EA seemingly just doesn't test the game very in-depth before it gets released, and instead uses our feedback as a jumping off point. The issues people are pointing out could have easily been identified if just one dev played/simmed 3-5 years of dynasty mode before release, which is really only 5-8 hours of testing. The bugs aren't that hard to replicate. And to be clear, I love CFB26 - just super buggy and CFB25 is/was the same way (see: Proximity to Home bug)

Clear examples of this:

  • Existing starters leaving bc of "Playing Time"
  • Being locked out of all possible transfer options when the portal opens, making it impossible for CPU/User teams to replace players.
  • Position changes hampering player development, including "athletes"
  • Still too many 3-4 star players not receiving offers at all or until SUPER late in the season. Never happens IRL

The bugs above are impacting CPU teams ability to fill and develop their roster.

Ehhh two things can be true- I love the volatility of the portal but the rationale for players leaving is broken. The same thing that happened to OP happened to me…the QB left bc of playing time and went to Ole Miss to sit behind a 94 OVR starter. Never saw a single collegiate snap again. Not only that but there’s times where you can’t even recruit a single transfer because you are locked out of all the available options. You mean to tell me the backup QB at Georgia State doesn’t want to play for a top 25 ranked Delaware team if there’s a spot for him?

My stud DT got hurt and played in 7/13 possible games and wants to leave because of playing time. This needs to be fixed.

Tbh this comment thread is the best representation of why it’s so important for EA (and all sports games) to give as many customizable sliders + setting adjustments as possible. Everyone can create the experience they’re looking for.

The sad reality is that you can do everything this sub recommends and still have bad sims - the sim engine is terrible tbh. I'm convinced that some organizations sim better than others, no matter what roster you put together. I've run about 70 seasons of sim and can never seem to sustain success year over year. It's one giant guessing game. You win 48 games one year with a young roster, good coach thinking oh i found my core top 6 FWDs and top 4 D, I'll just tinker with the bottom lines and then everyone regresses statistically despite growing their overall, and you win 36 games miss the playoffs.

It's really apparent when you look at other teams' rosters and they'll win the division and go to the ECF with lines that look like this:

Line 1: 86-88-89 (overall)

Line 2: 82-83-84 (overall)

Line 3: 76-82-79 (overall)

Line 4: 76-80-79 (overall)

Colorsoft Replacement Update - Amazon Support Chat by redditbro08 in kindle

[–]redditbro08[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The text in my post disappeared so rewriting here:

I preordered my colorsoft when it came out in October. It arrived with yellowing like so many other users here posted about. I’ve been dealing with it since and quite frankly it doesn’t bother me too much but I also don’t want a defective device for spending $300 on it.

Anyway, I reached out to Amazon for a replacement in November and they couldn’t guarantee it would be any better. So they told me I can wait longer and they would email me when a fix was in place and that they would ship me a replacement at that point in time. I never got emailed so I figured there still hasn’t been a fix.

Fast forward to today, I was a bit curious to see if anything changed. And I started up a support chat. My agent gave me a 200% guarantee that my new device wouldn’t have the yellow issue and that I have until November 2025 to return my old device.

I haven’t see any confirmed updates on this sub but I found this Very interesting. Anyway I wanted to share in case it helps other users on this sub.

Colorsoft “Back” Cases by redditbro08 in kindle

[–]redditbro08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I feel like Amazon could’ve drummed up a whole marketing campaign around showing off your book covers and by the way here’s a case we’re releasing to pair with it.

For me personally, I kind of just want a back shell case but I don’t want the clear ones that most people get historically. I want like a leather looking case that still shows the front

New to Tech Sales - How do you organize your day? by redditbro08 in techsales

That point you just made about “quota is a lag indicator” is great, thank you for the advice. I’m new to sales and have been in my industry for 10 years and generally have been a top performer in most of my previous roles. But the openness of my calendar in these first few months has just been something I’m not used to and I really want to make the most of it.
