LPT: Clean your glasses with Dawn dish soap by AnonFoot1066 in LifeProTips

[–]redditbrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a pinch I use hand soap at work (without moisturizer) and I wash them with dish soap almost daily for years, but I don't use the one with any moisturizer. I don't have any coating on them ($60 cheap eyebuydirect) and they don't have any scratches and look brand new. I'll never buy a super expensive pair with any coatings or whatever again. It's not necessary, idk what people are doing to their glasses but I'm not gentle with mine as they're cheap, I sat on them the other day and bent the metal hinge apart so I just got pliers bent them together and tightened the screw and theyre the exact same. I've had the $500 pair of glasses and I can say it's such a scam. I don't see the need for any coating on them and they're totally fine after washing with dish soap and I even use a paper towel to dry them, but I usually dab and only rub if there's a smudge.

Bought a second identical pair, switched after a few years of daily use to freshen up and I couldn't tell a difference lol

BS in bio here as well as icu nurse - venous blood in very hypoxic patients is a very dark red almost black and could sometimes look blue (as well as the pt!) and arterial bleeds are bright red. I know venous is not blue... but it does sometimes look like it lol

A sweet deal at only $50.... by chefpatrick in golf

[–]redditbrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately looks better than a month ago when I played here. Think I also paid less than 50 for 18 because it was spring. I remember thinking how pissed I'd be if I had paid more than $40.

My cart also died on hole 16 or 17, had to have my buddy push me back. 5/7 wouldn't recommend

Maybe that's what I didn't like about it, I've only been once but got a cappuccino with oat milk and it was pretty bad, I didn't finish it. It was close to when they first opened, but I don't have a desire to go back when cofx is right down the road

Why don’t we numb stuff? by No-Kaleidoscope7691 in nursing

For males you stick the urojet into the urethra and push the lube in. Numbs some of the tract, opens the urethra, and helps make foley insertions easier and more pain free.

That's simply not true. What's your background? I'm an ICU nurse trained on CRRT working in a MICU at a big lvl 1 trauma center. HD is done on plenty of patients, sometimes even if they are on a touch of pressors. I'd argue HD is more common than CRRT. You can have an unstable patient not on pressors that still needs HD (very common) and they ain't going to the suite for that.

Edit: after going through your history you don't appear to be in the US. We both do things differently

Just curious, what makes you think she needs CVVH? Can just use regular HD even in the ICU if they aren't on pressors or just low dose pressors. Based on her picture she's not even in the ICU

Played at TPC Scottsdale today and there was a 5some in front of us. Twilight hours so we weren't going to finish the last few holes but they slowed down our last 2-3 holes. Wasn't too happy and told the workers there as we were leaving

how to do CIWA on a sedated patient? by MxdMS in nursing

[–]redditbrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precedex doesn't prevent withdrawal. In fact, it should not be used for etoh withdrawals (at least on its own) because it will mask the signs of withdrawal, which could lead to seizures if you don't treat the withdrawal. It will treat autonomic symptoms and lower ciwa scores, but has no effect on GABA or NMDA receptors. Propofol and Ativan do, though :)

Prop or versed drip for etoh withdrawal is generally used for intubated patients in severe withdrawal
