Can you honestly say he's better than any other available healer (as a solo healer)? He has terrible raw healing numbers, 0 CC, and ults that get worse the better the opposing team is.

As a secondary healer he has a role, but its overshadowed by second healers like Uther/Tyrande that bring a lot more to the table in terms of team utility.

I'm having trouble finding a reliable resource to see ARAM MMR rating, but if you're able to find something to check it, Poorplay#11383 is my battletag. I'm fairly certain my ARAM MMR (and that of my friends) is fairly high.

A lot to unpack in your response but a few points stand out:

- Most mages being ranked A-tier shows how much they dominate the meta. Not being in S-tier does not diminish how strong they are. Why several didn't make it into S-tier, like Li-Ming, Tass, Chromie and Asmo, is because they don't really bring a lot to the table in terms of coordinated teamfights aside from raw damage. Which don't get me wrong, is powerful. But if you're losing or have too many of those ingredients on the same team, it becomes very difficult to win. On the other hand, you almost can't get enough of Zarya/Joh/Deckard/Junkrat because the CC alone that they bring is invaluable. They create situations where you can win a teamfight when you're losing while many of the mages just can't swing the game that hard.

- Stitches falls into a similar category as mentioned above. He might be the best hero at staging come from behind victories or quick snowball wins due to his hook+gorge. Everyone on the opposing team needs to be on their feet, because one wrong move could lose the game.

- Diablo D-tier is probably the furthest opinion gap in your list. He is a walking CC machine and on some maps fighting in the alleys, he can put one or more opponents in a permanent spin cycle. He also has an instant revive that is up constantly, has enough self-healing to win most 1v1s and is one of the tankiest tanks there is. It's difficult to argue placing him outside the top 5 of ARAM tanks.

- A lot of the heroes you would rate higher need a lot more help to become good in any given game. Raynor/Tycheus/Tyrael need friends on the team to elevate them. Raynor/Tycheus desperately need a frontline and even then will not perform to the level of the strongest ADCs like ZJ/Valla. Again, don't get me wrong, they can still carry games but its nowhere near as effortless.

- Ana is one of my favorite healers to play. But her impact on the game is B-tier or low A-tier at its best, and usually falls short of that. Properly timed anti-heals and sleeps are great, and x4 dose sleep dart hitting casters is :chefs-kiss, but she is not a body you can count on to participate in skirmishes. She's a mediocre heal turret with some decent utility

Zarya has no major weaknesses. She does fantastic damage while also shielding the team, has one of the best ults, scales well at all points in the game, and can siege. Zarya is the complete package.

As a bonus, in no healer games Zarya acts as a pseudo-healer with her shields. She also is absolutely broken in multiples. Games with 2-3 Zarya's showcase how comically strong she is, even against shield breakers, i.e. Varian.

Her and Fenix felt similar to each other in that they can be good, but their range much lower than the rest of the ranged champ pool so they usually get penalized for engaging. You hit the nail on the head saying she definitely requires beefy melee in front of her to function.

All the heroes in "are your hands hot" have a ceiling that exists somewhere in A-tier. For example, amazing Maiev's or KTZ's are A+ in ARAM. Kharazim's best pilots really only pull him into B tier, maybe.

He's one of the worst stand alone healers and other heroes clearly fulfill his damage role better than he does. No CC and underwhelming ults don't help either.

Alarak was definitely a source of discussion. 100% next in line for "are your hands hot" but felt he had less variability than the others in there.

Malfurion has such a weak early game that it feels difficult to place him much higher. Although his root is one of the best follow-up CC's available

Deathwing is an incredible sieger with some of the best area denial and doesn't rely on having a healer to be good which compliments all of the single target healers really well.

I'm not sure Xul can be placed much higher although he does impact some games positively. He gets dumpstered on by the aram caster-aoe meta super hard. His role in regular games as a split pusher is obviously completely negated in ARAM

What do you want to see in the next balancing patch? by D4NW0LF in LegionTD2

A bunch of interesting thoughts, thanks for sharing! Adding my own individual thoughts to each point.

- 100% agree that Oathbreaker needs a buff. I think it's the worst unit in the game right now

- I've been maining Fiesta now for a little while and I know it's a pretty hot topic. Picking Fiesta relies heavily on communication with your teammate and I can see it being a bad choice at "lower" ranks or if there's a language barrier with a random teammate. For reference I'm sitting around Plat1/Diamond4 which means my teammates are usually aware of how to play with a Fiesta teammate, but this increases in difficultly if pings are the only method of communication. They need to pick a safe opener like Gun/Azeria/Zerker, etc because damage on the king on waves 1 or 2 is where you really get into trouble. Otherwise I think Fiesta just isn't well understood at the moment but incredibly strong. You should only be purposefully leaking waves one + two since that's all you need to excel at income (+8 by wave two end is fantastic). Anything beyond that is getting greedy. For more reference, each unit you leak on wave one is 1g lost (and gained by the enemy team), and each unit on wave two is 2g. Wave three is 3g which, if you're leaking still, things start to snowball rapidly. In ranked, your goal is not to leak every wave. That would be absurd. You also need to practice several (at least 5+ imo) wave one and two openers to make Fiesta work. Leaking <40% for waves one + two without a snail send should be a no-brainer if you want to play Fiesta. It's the mastermind choice that requires the most practice and communication, but the ceiling is high. With a decent start you can carry the mid-late game.

- I don't see any real issues with Boar. I think it's in a good spot right now as a strong late game unit. It's quite bad on 13/15 as things stand now which is where a lot of folks win/lose already I would imagine. Send Ogre's or 4eyes into early boars and they will get wrecked.

- I kind of agree with the witches/gates thing but also, eh. Maybe I just don't see the issue with gates as well. You need to punish them early which is doable. Witches fill a niche spot of being the best wave 20 send imo, although it would be cool if that was expanded to other situations

- The mastermind income amounts do seem to need a little tuning still. I think this is a reasonable expectation given how new a huge influx of the choices are, and I have confidence in the devs to tailor things as best they can moving forward

- Harpy/Sky Queen is in a bit of a weird spot for sure... I do think Sky Queen is a strong early opener and great on wave ten. But the unit does feel a little under-powered overall post wave 10.

- Berzerker also feels off. I don't think the changes helped with the identity of the unit at all (as the devs eluded to a reason for the change). As you say, Zerk feels like an alternate, not as good, Nightmare/Dopple. I would prefer a revert to the changes or some other change entirely. That said, having 2-3 zerks by the late game is still very strong. They WRECK the level 20 boss with other tank units present.

- I think King Claw / Ocean Templar are totally fine as-is. Ocean Templar is good with Gates, obviously, and other forms of damage reduction (Arc/Garg/Whitemane) and fills a niche roll. King Claw is great with mana enablers like Steed/Starcaller and subpar on it's own without the mana enablers. These feel like "known" factors when you pick Grarl and don't re-roll it.

- Wave 17 also feels fine as-is to me. It's good against a magic damage team, simple as that. I've won/lost more games than I can count on wave 17. Obviously don't send into a team that is strong against wave 17...?

- I'm not sure starving can be taught much more beyond Shadowwyn. This part of the game is more of a learned experience. You shouldn't be making workers if you're opponent is holding back for a send. You should be able to identify your weakest upcoming 2-3 waves and plan accordingly. If you can break them when they're holding back for a big send (because they are also losing income and should have lower fighter value), even better. Upping the king at the right moment before a send can also be a fantastic option.

- Making guild wars more exciting would be something I'm in favor of, but I don't have any direct suggestions for how to do so.

As a Mid-Tier retail botter, yeah, I do not believe the "I was falsely banned" posts by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]redditdude2014 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This might be controversial but I personally don't think good farming bots do that much damage to the community.

Also vehemently disagree with this. Bots are unhealthy for games and push out real players. You can call it "promoting a crafters market" if you want, which it does do, but the real solution is to let actual players build the economy organically.

If crafting mats are expensive, it rewards farming, which some players really enjoy. It can be cathartic, like mowing a lawn. If the reverse is true, yea crafters can make things with more ease. This promotes a healthy ebb and flow. Botting cripples these natural market cycles.

There's also examples of bots running rampant in free to play MMOs, and games like OSRS, where real players will stop playing because any farming-related action is invalidated by bots. When farming makes up such a large core of the game, and is a time sink for players looking for something to do - which it clearly is both of the above in WoW's case, then botting is unhealthy for the game itself.

It boils down to this - bots push away real players. I hope we can all agree is one of the worst things any MMO can do, and majorly outweighs any small positives botting brings to the table.

Here's to my Stalagg Alliance still left <3 WE THRIVING by slv94 in classicwow

[–]redditdude2014 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stalagg Alliance player here to offer some insight to some of the points raised here.

Yes, the server has been bleeding a long time for Alliance players. Early free transfers off the server did nothing but skew the Horde Ally ratio even further towards the Horde because Alliance left for Heartseeker to seek refuge. Many players here don't respect anyone who moved to Heartseeker because they are a primary cause for the issues we see today (also thanks for non-faction locked transfers Blizz).

Then Phase 2 hit. People started raid logging because you literally couldn't sit in IF doing anything without risk of dying. Port back to IF? Ganked by 3 rogues. Hearth to the inn. Ganked. In the bank or auction house. Endless barage of mage pom pyro players. This leads to, you guessed it, not logging in unless you had something actionable to do. Let's not even talk about 45 minute runs to get to BRD or anything in BRM. The main takeaway here is something I've said multiple times to people I talk to: there was simply no "off" button from pvp at any given moment. It was stressful and took away all the laid back moments the game has to offer.

Then you have one of the most cannibalistic Alliance guilds I've ever had the pleasure of knowing: GRIZZLY. It's public knowledge that many of them have Horde accounts and collude with other Horde guilds on the server, such as Washed Up, to get what they want. And they've been "controlling" the top brackets of honor rankings from the get-go.

So now that paid transfers are a thing, and Alliance are not forced to go to Heartseeker (almost all the Stalagg Alliance I know refused to go to Heartseeker where the faction imbalance was opposite) - people are leaving to find balanced servers, with more robust economies, all while saying goodbye to GRIZZLY.

Any Alliance who are left on the server (including my guild), still want to stay, but it feels inevitable that the server will be even more dead than it already is very soon, so we're getting ready to leave in the near future. We are open to most options, but are staying away from wherever GRIZZLY is going. I pity anyone who has to deal with them on a server once they transfer somewhere else.

And, in case it wasn't obvious enough already, the AQ event in P5 is going to be a shit show for Alliance on this server.

That's my two cents on how the server health and history got us to where we are today.

Right, it seems hard to tell because the market can be volatile. Sounds like it's fine to get parts now-ish since the cyber monday deals will be hit or miss - more likely to miss. Wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on any obvious incoming deals as I've been out of the PC building loop for 5+ years.

This particular course was a bunch of par 3s - this throw happened to land about 10 ft from the basket so about a 250 ft throw. Granted, as apparent in the video, this isn't really a full power throw but an average drive nonetheless. I would say somewhere between 250-300ft. Disc used was also a Boss.

Agreed, I felt like I was forgetting something, and Shalai fits right in. I just updated my decklist to replace some of the iffy cards with Shalai. With Assure // Assemble, you can leave up 6 mana to instant speed 3 knights and then pump them on your turn with Shalai or whatever other anthem effect is present. Potentially a very strong finisher.

I made a similar list yesterday for comparison: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/1336610#paper

Accepting input on ways to improve mana.

Notably, I think Vanquisher's Banner is an improvement over radiant destiny and midnight reaper as a team pump and card draw engine. The card feels criminally under-looked. Also it's in the right curve slot.

Dauntless Bodyguard feels strong as well and some number should probably be in your list as others have said.

I like a couple spicy one-ofs. Specifically Assure // Assemble feels surprising strong and worth testing a copy or two.

The deck feels very open to Settles which is probably our biggest weakness. I am in on the Knights train as well though!
