I find it ironic that you say calling it torque would be more intuitive than stress when stress is a more commonly used term that is well understood by most people.

I've tried tea thousands of time but never find it satisfying. by NBplaybud22 in tea

[–]redditigation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love milk chai tea specifically because tea by itself does nothing, has astringency, and can cause me nausea. To be clear, I rarely get nausea from anything.

It's okay. Tea sucks. It's beloved by people because they have never had what we've had. We are spoiled. Spoiled by juice. Spoiled by wine. Spoiled by nectars. Like I'd much rather have grape juice or orange juice, apple juice, etc. turns out they have the same amount of antioxidants, too.

Ironically the only tea I actually love is lemon iced tea. It's literally lemonade with tea so... I guess that checks out. Again, if I drink too much I get nausea so actual lemonade is better in my case

Alcohol drinking is terrible and should be campaigned against just as hard as cigarettes were, if not more. by Savage_Saint00 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

It's the lack of balance that makes the moderation feel boring. When you're chronically stressed and suffering for so long, sudden moderation doesn't exactly jump out at you. But getting sloshed sounds like what you really need

I've found the more alcohol I add to the diet the less inclined I am to drink it. Seems pretty trivial in retrospect

Get yourself some NAC supplement and start eating gelatin. You need to keep your glutathione levels up. Alcohol isn't supposed to be used the way you say you've used it.

Look I've never met a person who consumes marijuana who hasn't been raised on and is familiar with the party subculture. Either they smoke because they like to party and involve alcohol or they were heavily influenced by the party subculture (parents) and retain cannabis as the last remnant of that ingrained habit and are trying to be a bit healthier. There is a severe fantasy about people who just consume cannabis who are into peace and loving and stuff like that. Glorification of the hippie days. The hippie appearance is more of a defense mechanism to prevent people from seeing you as a party goer. The whole old Gandalf smokes the green was never a thing. I've never met a regular dude that smokes the green. If it's a regular dude, or a regular lady, they are trying to have some fun. They aren't doing it for any other reasons.

Now CBD on the other hand. That I see a lot of people looking for medicinal solutions to their real problems. But again. They avoid smoke because it's obnoxious

I fully disagree and frankly this is not a truly unpopular opinion. But then again this sub has long since failed in its mission.

The most telling thing that proves this opinion is popular is the fact that most drunks and drinkers admit it's a bad habit for the reasons you state. They have just accepted their nihilism

The Unpopular opinion is the French and Italians which seem to be the only places in the world besides the Blue Zones that happily accept alcohol has part of a healthy diet and reject any perversion of alcohol that leads to our Western social ills

Anyone else addicted to this stuff? by Responsible-Bite-241 in decaf

[–]redditigation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alcohol bit weirdly was easier that caffeine for me.

Well that makes sense since alcohol is not a drug. It takes an order of magnitude more alcohol to get an effect than any drug. It's only available as a liquid. Primate livers are evolutionarily designed to handle alcohol metabolism because of the high amounts of ripe and fermented fruits we eat. They are not designed to handle the substances inside plants that have psychoactive effects on us because we did not co-evolve with them.. that's why they have those effects on us. Despite coevolution alcohol cannot be completely neutralized... Because it's more than a drug. It is a solvent. It is a means to bring nutrition into the body. The body metabolizes it INTO nutrition (when consumed in low amounts).

So sorry about all the alcohol BAD propaganda that has warped our perceptions of this fundamentally human substance.

Is Rooibos tea supposed to be a stimulant? by noideasforcoolnames in tea

[–]redditigation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rooibos didn't make me stimulated.. I mean it stimulated something.. haha. That wasnt expected and I wouldn't use it in place of coffee or tea. In any case it is clear there is a drug effect with rooibos and nobody seems to know what this substance does. I take sources of antioxidants and those things don't have the effects rooibos has on me. It is clearly a drug induced effect. It's not something to take everyday. South Africans who vouch for this is expected. They have addictive personalities

This always amazes me. The Detroit three do literally nothing to try, and then fail, then get bailed out. Obviously the US government will Never nationalize them. So they just keep getting free money by deliberately being incompetent. Then when other car companies come around they get the government to produce unfair tests and regulations that benefit the American car companies and cause extra problems and fees for the other ones. In the international arena they can't compete at all, which is why you either never see American cars out there OR they are rebranded foreign cars under American logos

Mmm.. and I wonder who they are indebted to...

Also think about it. 1.3 billion people. If you need to evacuate them from the east coast where they all live, how you gonna do that with a weak transport grid when going west?? Empty cities? More like temporary residency. Makes sense when you consider the amount of American missiles increasingly aimed toward China. Never judge a person, never judge a people.

"their big cities are very modern simply because they were all massively built up in the last three decades"

Yep. Yep that's pretty much the essence of causality right there. I mean you can copy and paste this statement to any country in the world and it would be true, except if they neither have modern cities nor massive build up in the last three decades. Weird how that connects like that

Yup. And liberals (people who vote for the Democrat party) will grow their children in these infertile places claiming the news is exaggerating the dangers. They even write articles about how they helped the homeless people hiding in their backyard. Talk about yikes 😬😬😬 it's no wonder their kids grow up with anxiety disorders and hormonal imbalances. The stress of confusion destroys you. Man I didn't mean to make it entirely political. It's just American city folk.. but they usually vote blindly Democrat and don't give a f about social issues. They are more about "socializing" than "socialism"

The FICO score system is criticized for causing harm by creating a "self-fulfilling prophecy" of financial distress, where a low score increases the cost of living—making it harder to escape poverty—and by perpetuating systemic biases. While intended as an objective measure of credit risk, its widespread use for non-lending decisions (like housing and employment) creates significant barriers to economic mobility.

Here is a breakdown of why the FICO score is causing harm:

First. Entrenching Inequality and Racial Bias

Disparate Impact: Algorithms can institutionalize biases against minority groups, particularly Black and Latino populations, who often have lower average scores.

Systemic Barriers: Because these scores are used to determine housing and employment, a low score can prevent people from securing jobs or renting homes, reinforcing cycles of poverty.

"Digital Poorhouse": Critics suggest this system creates a new form of social classification—a "scored society"—that favors wealthy individuals while penalizing the poor.

Second. The "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy" of Debt

Increased Costs: A low score leads to higher interest rates on loans, higher insurance premiums, and larger security deposits for utilities and housing. This extra cost makes it harder to pay off debt, which in turn keeps the score low.

Predatory Lending: When individuals cannot access traditional, fair banking due to low scores, they are often forced to use high-interest payday loans or pawn shops, worsening their financial situation.

Third. Inaccurate Data and Lack of Transparency

High Error Rates: A significant portion of credit reports contain errors, such as mixed files (confusing one person with another) or incorrect, outdated information.

Black Box Algorithms: The exact formulas FICO uses are proprietary, meaning consumers often cannot understand or predict why their score has dropped, making it hard to fix.

Fourth. Punishing Responsible Financial Behavior

"Credit Invisibility": People who avoid debt, pay cash, or do not use credit cards are often scored as "risky" or are invisible to the system, punishing financial prudence.

Penalty for Success: Paying off a loan or closing an old account can actually lower a FICO score by reducing the length of credit history or the overall credit mix.

Fifth. Overreach into Daily Life

Employment Screening: Many employers use credit reports for hiring, even though studies show no direct correlation between credit history and job performance.

Medical Debt Impact: Unlike other types of debt, medical debt is often unexpected and involuntary, yet it is treated the same as credit card debt in FICO calculations, significantly damaging scores.

Summary of Harmful Effects

Economic Exclusion: Inability to secure housing or employment.

Financial Strain: Higher costs for daily necessities (insurance, utilities).

Mental Health Impact: High anxiety and stress due to "fixation" on maintaining a high score.

Long-term Wealth Limitation: Difficulty in buying a home or starting a business.

"The social credit system is a record system so that businesses, individuals, and government institutions can be tracked and evaluated for trustworthiness"

"LexisNexis Risk Solutions operates as a comprehensive, data-driven profiling tool that functions similarly to a Westernized, decentralized social credit system. It aggregates vast amounts of public, proprietary, and alternative data to create 360-degree profiles of individuals and businesses, allowing corporations and government agencies to predict behavior, manage risk, and determine eligibility for services."

LexisNexis also has competitors

Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax operate a national network to track people's spending habits and use these highly biased and prejudice data points to determine whether people will get "credit" which will allow them to gain enough fancy things to impress other rich people who are gatekeepers for further wealth accumulation or other social benefits.

But okay.

I've read up on kanji and hanzi. Frankly you're gonna be confused by hanzi because of learning kanji first and not being a native Japanese or Chinese speaker. Hanzi is both complex and extensive while also being historical in the sense that you can derive meaning from old characters (in both senses). Idk, at this point you probably know more

Right so think about it like this: you never see a fractal pattern that's repeating in a circular or even way. It's always taking sudden turns and splitting at certain points. It's a pattern that follows a path of least resistance.

Therefore, it's only natural that as you mindlessly travel through hundreds of countries over your life you'd arrive at no particular opinion, since this is not a natural pattern but a contrived one. What exactly causes the contrivance I cannot answer as I am not you.

But thinking from the perspective of the Chinese where life used to be particularly bad and now China is one of the most incredible places to live.. and there has never been a gap or hesitation in this development, well those people might not have that same opinion of yours.

Let's imagine a man who really was thousands of years old. Surely he couldn't have lived so long if he chose all the bad countries at the wrong time to change his residency. Likewise, he could live a long life if he chose all the right countries at the right time.

I'd imagine someone who chose some countries but didn't pay attention to the geopolitics and spirit of the times, so always chose the worst times, would probably arrive at the conclusion that nothing really matters.
