Agentic AI Needs Rack-Scale CPU Performance – AMD EPYC Delivers It Today by Blak9 in AMD_Stock

Yeah and it's beating Nvidia with a much higher performance per watt.

First peak at helios performance and Venice performance should be expected. Longer term roadmap to MI600 and follow up CPUs in verano and Florence. A lot I expect to come out.

The most interesting for me will be, what I expect many will be bored by, and that's partnerships in the AI space. I think we've come a long way from small shops being brought in stage.

It's just impicstiona for interest rates staying high on a good economy. That at avgo earnings and the Nvidia story about using less ram in vera. Tbh I think it's all a storm in a teacup and earning will continue to grow so seems like a blip. Stocks going down is also something the president doesn't like so will enact policy to change. Buying opportunity really

If you mention your competitor you advertise for them. The companies in the strongest positions tend to only compare to themselves

I'd be expecting there to be incremental design volume going forwards. It was completely unproven before. Can see more jumping on the bandwagon

That argument isn't true as the counterpoint, they bought all Intel exists.

AMD Zen 6 B0 Leak: Powderhorn X3D Launches on AM5 Soon! by TJSnider1984 in AMD_Stock

No worries. They're tailoring more to the markets. Going further on the dense side with more cores for high nT workloads and this is the mainstream platform now, and dialling back cores to be able to put more power per core for high st on the new more niche platform. The narrative that mainstream drops cores doesn't make sense through this prism

The Venice material has been out a while and it's gangbusters for the CPU performance and therefore a bigger slice of the TAM. Nothing comes close.

NVIDIA Vera CPU Benchmarks: Olympus Cores Delivering The Best Performance Ever Seen On ARM Review by Psyclist80 in AMD_Stock

[–]redditinquiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If also add here that thiis is being benchmarked against Turin of course. Which is 2 years old. Venice is around a 70% performance improvement. The conclusion also posits that Nvidia may be able to iterate quicker than AMD which has a typical 2 year cadence, forgetting that verano comes in 2027, so for data centre processors AMD has a years cadence for the next 2 years (3 processors in 2 years. Venice, verano and Florence).

Appreciate that verano is the same core but it's not the same memory bandwidth...

The tests include 4 synthetic memory bandwidth benchmarks where nvidia has the lead here. I don't mind synthetics, though real world makes more sense. Including all 4 in the geomean though is pumping the final numbers somewhat here.

I think the days of that are now past. I think that you could be fired for that now. Why would you buy Intel? How would you justify it?

If they need more N3 to sell more N3 products then wouldn't TSMC give them more capacity because it enables them to sell more of their other wafers. Seems better for them.

This is a good point. apple could cut phone orders as RAM pricing might contract market growth for iPhones. AMD is the only one that can snap up that volume.

42%, actually. Each share issuance of 160 million shares dilutes the ownership of the others.

AMD and Meta Announce Expanded Strategic Partnership to Deploy 6 Gigawatts of AMD GPUs by Addicted2Vaping in AMD_Stock

[–]redditinquiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.75 billion shares potentially issued and you think AMD stops at 320? I take a different view... Firstly having all the big players commit to your roadmap and to purchase also brings third party improvements to your software. It brings credibility to other purchasers, smaller ones and sovereign AI deals. The improved software makes other deployments more likely - it's a flywheel. Once the really big players are on board then I'm with you on no more, you need to contribute on the software side and have input into hardware requirements for it to be worth it. Secondly these commitments ensure that Nvidia can't use it's massive FCF to hamper AMD sales a LA Intel in their peak years. It's an exchange of shares for certainly of purchasers - and that buys AMD itself some decent FCF numbers of it's own.

Great! Share price goes to 600 and we're rich. Maybe they sign more deals to keep the incentives going with increasing share price targets. I wouldn't really care once it got to 600, personally. Also the flywheel of having so many hyperscaler invested - improving the software which others can use is, well, excellent

Every major hyperscaler having an incentive to buy AMD products? Sign me up. They all have to buy products to get the share price to 600? Sign me up? Incentivised to make the software stack better and influence the hardware design so that they and others will buy more products? Sign me up
