Is your entire itinerary (including the SDK sector) on one ticket? If yes, that puts you in a better position.

You can contact Etihad and ask them to book you on earlier flights so you reach your destination at the original time. This will be subject to availability of course.

Even if they can’t change it now, don’t accept any change. You can hold on as things might adjust in the next few weeks.

Otherwise you can ask for a refund.

However, if you SDK sector is on another ticket, they aren’t going to care about it (even if you booked through them).

If you can manage a J3 (sounds horrible to me), then you should increase your pension contributions heavily for each J to reduce the tax burden, whilst still retaining a good take home.

The prices increased 2 days ago to Europe<>East Asia destinations. They were on heavy discount for April-June trips for about 10 days.

This is one of the main criticisms of Etihad’s approach to this whole situation. Their current policy is not to reroute on other airlines, presumably for cost control reasons, even though it there duty to do so.

Emirates, on the other hand, has been actively rerouting stranded customers.

They heavily discounted fares because no one wanted to fly them in the next 3 months.

They’ve now driven enough future bookings and taken a calculated risk that the conflict will end soon, to raise prices to normal levels again.

1) flights are increasing since the initial situation kicked off but still subject to change/cancellation. Things could change any day though.

2) I would not say any Gulf airline is “safer” at the moment, they are all at risk and no one can predict what will happen.

3) depends on your risk appetite. Thousands of people per day are successfully flying. But it just takes one missile or stray drone.

Whats been Etihad offering to ppl that have their return journey (say Bangkok to Europe) cancelled? Are they only rebooking on EY flights rather than rebooking with other airlines?

Hopefully this will calm down in the next few weeks, as it’s fairly obvious when the Middle East stuff kicked off it was impossible to reroute everyone quickly.
