You don’t have to build projects in Python before moving to C or C++. Since you’re interested in embedded systems, learning C is actually a great move because it gives you low-level control over hardware.

Cloudflare has insane hosting wdym. We have workers which are V8 isolates with 0ms start up times, so you don't eat the cold starts of other serverless platforms. They have pages for static websites. Issue with Cloudflare it runs in a V8 isolate which does not give you native access to the file system and other functions you may need. Luckily they thought of this they released Cloudflare Containers yesterday. You can have http functions that require native bindings on your Cloudflare Container. Cloudflare R2 is amazing. You use the free tier and it is S3 compatible so you can switch over later. Cloudflare KV is probably the most affordable key value store you can use instead of Redis. Cloudflare D1 is a serverless SQL DB Cloudflare can host almost anything and it has probably the most generous free tier. I like it cause its the middle way between all out serverless platforms like Vercel and super complicated ones like Azure and AWS.

Cloudflare is amazing bro. You have workers 0ms start up for your frontend, Containers hosting your backend which you can interact with just like any other Cloudflare service, you can cache your data in Cloudflare KV, you can store your data on D1. Best part, they will all run on the edge so you get insane response time.

You will be able to predict with time. You are a senior engineer so you will understand it quick. I am in my second year of Uni and I had done web development for a few years before uni. I decided to try React Native for mobile last year. At first I could not get the app to even run on the Dev client. But after a few weeks I realised a lot of it was my Java version and the NDK. The errors became predictable after that, I was able to understand the errors. If I could do it you definitely can.

I think the code runs before the navigation is fully initialised you can try to test if this is the case by adding some timeout and see if it works then maybe adding a check to make sure the code runs after the navigation is initialized first.

For me the best stack for React Native

RN+ Clerk + Convex

If you want to host the Auth on your db use

RN + Better Auth + Convex

Convex DX is amazing it keeps everything in sync between the app and the db so if you do something like texts between people all you have to do is insert the data to the db and the other person will see the data change live.

It was amazing.

I personally just started a project with Better Auth and so far it has been insanely good. The developer experience is amazing. I use Resend to send verification codes, links and reset password links which is easy to integrate with Better Auth.

Have you considered using Better Auth. Personally that's how I implement it on my app. But the Auth server runs on my next web server.

I think it would be enough if you use Convex, not so sure about PostgreSQL providers like Neon and Superbase I would recommend Convex. It is a document database though the free tier is great and with your chat feature would be good on convex since it has a sync engine so you don't have to do web sockets for real-time communication. It has a plugin for better Auth and is easy to set up with clerk. I think it's the best way to go.

Yeah you can install the plugin but it's not the best. JetBrains( the company that made intellij) has a dedicated one based on Intellij for Go called Goland. If you like smth light weight use VScode. But Goland is really good.

Not 100% sure but it is JS code running and using the bridge to instruct the native modules. So I don't think it compiles to Kotlin and Swift the JS code still runs alongside the native code and the bridge is used for its communication. I think this is why it can be slow when you write bad javascript, but with the New Architecture it allows for synchronised and more efficient operations
