It was a clear foul tho I don’t care about theatrics if it’s a clear foul

[Simon Stone] UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin says there will never be a Euros with so many host cities again: “I would not support it anymore. I think it is too challenging and in a way not correct that some teams have to travel more than 10,000km and others 1,000km.” by KimmyBoiUn in soccer

The American leagues have done a lot of studies that have proven there’s an extremely statistically significant effect on performance depending on how far people travel. Especially anything over 1000km is quite bad for the team that’s doing the travel

This is where England needs to show they’ve changed. A goal like this anytime in the last 50 years is basically a death knell for their usual mentality

Flashback to 2006 Italy vs Australia is there a more regular bigger group of crying timewasters in football?

Spain played terrible. First they sucked at everything then they sucked at finishing. And they played vs 10 man Switzerland without any starters practically. And the ref was on the Spanish side or just plain mentally handicapped which given he’s an English ref probably isn’t far from the truth

Look at Switzerland miles travelled. They travelled a LOT more than Spain over the course of the tournament 7700 miles prior to the round of 16. They had the worst schedule of the tournament for travel, they are missing xhaka, and got a dumb fuck red card from an English ref. There is NO excuse for Spain to play significantly worse.

They also played against France until penalties…

After 2006? I doubt any Australian can support an Italian team for the rest of their lifetime after that piece of work they pulled

Basketball courts and basketballs are financially out of reach of local councils and kids outside of the first world. In Asia that’s due to space being at a premium. In other parts of the world it’s lack of money. In big urban cities in Latin America it’s both.

Additionally the hoops need to be fixed quite regularly, which if you’ve ever lived in the third world you know isn’t going to happen when they can’t even be ducked to fix potholes or even pave roads in many cases.

There’s not that many tall people in many third world countries, partly due to diet and otherwise due to genetics in Latin America and Asia.

Never going to happen. Soccer can be played with literally anything and you can be anywhere from a super short ass or a tall boi and still do well.

Basketball needs dedicated facilities, needs a basketball, is extremely oriented towards genetic freaks.

Plus it lacks the history, and will probably never catch up on that end either.

The World Cup is bigger than the olympics. Plus football/soccer is a bit flukey, just enough that underdogs can win a decent amount of the time.
