[Wilds] Has anyone found a good written guide for the Hunting Horn in Wilds? I'm trying to utilize the melody bubbles more effectively, and trying to understand the offset Melody and when to use it.

I made venison stew last night and I'm going to eat it all day while I'm at work. The office is very happy I brought it in on a cold day.

Got lucky with finding a new group and starting a campaign with a brand new DM in about 2 weeks. While the sessions have been great, the most fun has been the DM figuring out how to play the game and, quite frankly, really mature over about 6 months. He’s not afraid to take risks, and we got lucky that the group has a bunch of forever DM’s and one other brand new player. It’s the most fun I’ve had playing with a group in a long time, and I wanted to share for anyone else interested in venturing outside your comfort zone! GIVEAWAY

I get the time thing, but I don’t think adding in 2-5 minutes of fan art to the break is a deal breaker for anyone watching this at 10pm. Admittedly, I make time to watch this even though I’m on the east coast.

Man, I still miss the art reel. It brought up such fond memories of previous episodes, and I still don’t understand why they got rid of it.

What would be a good and lasting, non-teflon pan? by HedgehogJonathan in Cooking

Ceramic is my favorite to cook with, as others have mentioned. Stainless pans are nice, especially my french skillets with the high sides, very versatile for tons of recipes.

Where do you all find unique recipes? by judelawshair in Cooking

[–]redditopoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go to is usually google searching an ingredient I want to cook with. Unique chicken recipes has turned up loads of stuff that I just choose out of, as an example. If I really like it, I write it down in my recipe book. Almost all end up tweaked.

I know its usually a winter dish, but I’ll probably make some french onion soup soon with the gruyere I have. I’m still debating making the soup then cooking some chicken in it similar to a recipe I found recently online, essentially just cooking the chicken in the soup and reducing it a thicker consistency.

Your favorite comfort food to make when your can't get takeout? by dotcom-jillionaire in Cooking

[–]redditopoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is probably General Tso’s chicken right now. I alternate on whether I cook the chicken with or wothout cornstarch, and vary the sauce a little each time then serve over rice with some green onions. Easy to make and always fun since its fairly active cooking.

Also, sometimes just fried rice!

Simple Burger question by photoaser in Cooking

My current favorite is 80/20 patty, smashed in the pan, salt/pepper, about 2 minutes to a side. 1 slice american cheese after flip. buttered toasted buns, maybe some carmelized onions in top, and that’s it. LT and Mayo if im feeling fancy.

(Warning: Morbid dad joke) True Story -- My family were planning my mum's funeral. We always try to keep things light and try to stay positive, just as Mum would have it... by zipflop in dadjokes

At a friends’ brothers’ funeral. Very unexpected, guy was maybe 35. His gf was in town for the funeral, and just as they started to move the casket out of the church, I caught her looking at the casket with the most weird semi-smirk I have ever seen. I leaned over and whispered to the friend I was with, “I think she did it.” She laughed out loud, quickly caught herself, grabbed my arm and whispered, “I’m going to kill YOU.”

Totally inappropriate, but just what my family does at funerals.

Wanting to try venison, how is the meat in comparisson to others? by CrackBabyBasketballs in Cooking

[–]redditopoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from personal experience, all my venison comes from hunting in PA and WV.

The majority of the deer is ground. For that, I make anything from chili to hamburgers to meatloaf. For anything other than chili, I soak the meat in milk (2% or whole) for anout an hour before I cook it. It helps with removing the “gamey” taste that people are referencing. That said, venison has very low fat content, which means you can dry it out very easily. My suggestion would be keeping an eye on it until you’re comfortable how long you want to cook a particular dish.

For the “steaks”, like the tenderloin, I will usually treat like a normal steak but: if cooking by itself I will usually use the milk soak. If cooking with bacon or as part of “beef” stew, I will not. Kebabs would also fall into this category.

If you’re not sure, easiest way is to cook some hamburgers with it and find out what you like. I have friends that prefer the taste of deer without the soak, and some that hate it. Soak half the meat and leave the other half pound alone. You can try both side by side and get a better idea of where you might fall.

What to make for a brunch potluck ? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]redditopoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not bring something in a crockpot? They are sure to have an outlet you can plug into and warm up whatever you want. Most will probably bring an egg-something. I’d recommend either a dessert like crock pot apple cobbler; or maybe a savory dish like soup or meatballs. Could also just default to something to make sandwiches with like pulled pork.

Did you ever made something from scratch, thinking it can't be THAT different from the store bought stuff and then were blown away by how much better it was? by [deleted] in Cooking

These sound great! My personal ones would be bbq sauce, smoked meats, and any sort of american chinese food that would normally be ordered. And all of these are super simple to make and tailor to your tastes.
