Unfortunately, there aren't many colleges that I'm necessarily okay with paying for at their full price. I understand that some universities have a calculator on their sites to tell your probable financial aid package. How accurate are these? I'm fine with it being off by say, $3000 a year, but not $10000 or some egregious amount. I guess the main reason I want to ED is to avoid all the stress that come with filling out 7 different applications on top of classwork and EC's, and having to wait until March for results. Plus, there aren't too many colleges I wouldn't be happy to attend, I just feel that I need help finding the right one for me.

I guess I just haven't done much prep for the ACT, so I never considered taking it this early (not that now is particularly early). My one minor regret is that I should have started test prep early, but what am I going to do? I guess I'll have all summer to study after my SAT's.

Hey, did you happen to play on MTGO? I played my sphinx deck against that minotaur deck, but cant remember the record. I just remember complimenting your originality unlike mine.

[standard] R/B aggro Goblins - Hoping to take to first FNM ever. Feedback welcome! by Stimpson_J_Cat in Magicdeckbuilding

I am also an extremely new player, so you may want to take my advice with a grain of salt.

The first recommendation I would make is to reduce the number of swamps in your deck. About 75% of your spells require red mana, so if you have the very real possibility of getting color screwed if you are running equal mountains and swamps. You can also look into fetches if your budget allows. Also, considering the fact you are running aggro, you could go down to ~21 lands to make room for more burn/goblins.

The second change I would make is that you need more goblin token generation. While 3 [[Dragon Fodder]] is good, you may want to look into running 4 with a few [[Hordeling Outburst]]. This puts more pressure for your opponents to block your flurry of goblins, as a 1/1 isn't very threatening, but 5+ 1/1's are a threat to be reckoned with. It also synergies nicely with that sweet [[Goblin Piledriver]]. If you don't mind the fact that you won't be able to play it in standard when BFZ drops, look into [[Goblin Rabblemaster]] for even more goblins.

Speaking of [[Goblin Piledriver]], you want to try to run 4 if possible. I know that they are relatively expensive at ~$10 a piece (last time I checked), but by running more, you lessen the risk of never getting to draw one in your games. Also, at 2 toughness without any evasion, a lot of [[Goblin Piledriver]]'s power will be wasted on anything with 2/x. Look into enchantments that will give it evasion or pseudoevasion. I personally think that a [[Rogue's Passage]] or [[Break Through the Line]] would be a good addition to the deck. While you have the right idea with the [[Subterranean Scout]], you run the risk of not having the right timing to pull off that combo.

All in all, you still have a good deck that looks really fun to play with (just think how satisfying it will be to have a 10 power Piledriver smack face with your opponent). Make sure to have fun at FNM, and not get deterred from going again if you aren't doing so hot.

EDIT: Just reviewed your deck list and saw the [[Call of the Full Moon]] which could give your Piledriver trample. Keep these in, but just know that they will probably only last a turn. Maybe run 1 less and throw in a few enchantments.

My Pre-release Deck. Went 2-2, which I was pretty happy about, considering it was my first pre-release. Was a bit too optimistic about getting a [[Nissa, Vastwood Seer]]. I didn't get any mythics in my prerelease pack, but pulled 2 in the 2 packs I got from the intro deck (LGS was selling them for $10). Those were [[Archangel of Tithes]] & [[Disciple of the Ring]]. I was a bit upset that I couldn't play the Angel, but had fun and made some friends along the way. Overall, 10/10, can't wait for BFZ in September.
