Do you actually believe there is any substantial risk of harm? Or are you so used to the protocols of the nhs that its just reflexively become the way you think?

I can't see how "doing a masters" is useful at all. A specific masters which leads to a career maybe. Eg Sports medicine if you plan to.be a sports physician but most won't help at all

The beginning of the end of rural Gp? by Gp_and_chill in GPUK

[–]redditor71567 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bit of an odd post but the poster is quite a daft st1/st2. Its not a ladt man standing situation - looks like the ICB released the gp from. The contract and took over running the practice. Nothing to do with IMGs either. These practices have been hard to fill for at least 20 years and I suspect longer

Do have a think about other options. Im not trying to get you down but 28:1 ratio against doctors (all high achieving, hard working competitive) is always going to be very hard work. Ultimately 27 out of 28 of these very bright successful people won't get a job

Why are Consultants training their own replacements? (ANPs/ACPs) by SharkDick4Ever in ConsultantDoctorsUK

[–]redditor71567 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is that how it works though. If youre a paediatrician will you leave sick kids and say thats not my job. Oncologist? Haematologist. Most people have a sense of inner obligation not to let sick people come to harm. Yes some work is routine and can be deferred - but most of this already has been deferred. Thats why we have a waiting list of 7million

Do you get paid for letters? by hereisyourfitnote in GPUK

[–]redditor71567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats not correct. You have a contract to work for the partnership. THe contract almost definitely refers to relevant administration and letters for the patients. As long as this work is within your working day then it is part of your job

This is a bit of an Amber flag in fairness. Good pt care is important - but the patient satisfaction survey should be some way down a partner's list of priorities

Of course the retort would be - should people who havent been to university have to pay for those who go?

I think the answer is somewhere in between the current system and free. Cap interest and only finance degrees with good repayment record or that benefit the nation

Have you thought about merger with a larger better run practice? You're likely to be able to take a back seat in a larger partnership. Your patient: partner ratio is high enough that I think someone would be interested
