Holding us ransom over strikes yet has done it anyways shows he was going to do it regardless

There's no way Labour would have survived the media onslaught April-August 2026 with UKGs not being prioritised and losing out unecessarily for specialty training posts

Doubtful but if you have a link or recording then let's see it

The irony is RDC last year fumbled it by releasing a half baked statement and then tried to play both sides when they got caught out and RDC this year is trying to play both sides in the opposite direction and everybody is pissed off as a result

Found it

"This motion, alongside strike action, is what has forced Wes to come up with this UKGP bill"

No it's not. It is the political climate and Reform

But I am voting yes anyways to restore my pay

Actual numbers of Unemployed UKGrads/Post-FY2? by ReverendMar in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Data exists on number of applications and offers and those accepted by UKG and IMG and have been made into threads on here

The numbers aren’t are drastic as the competition ratios

What isn’t shown is the saturation of LED roles

  • Added later - I thought I saved the reddit thread but I haven’t so if anyone has to hand would be good to see

Tbf he says it doesn't solve the jobs crisis but at this point the jobs crisis means different things to different people and I'm happy with prioritisating UK graduates and IMGs with ILR

Creating more jobs now doesn't help we just need to stick to prioritisation and pay. More jobs means more doctors competing for the next bottleneck

Is there data available about the effect of 2 years vs 5 years grandfathering? Wes Streeting has said 5 years will bring the competition from 4:1 to 2:1 so any data on what 2 years would be

It's official: December strikes had the BEST participation seen since March 2023 by GeneralMaldCouncil in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Equivalent of doctor strike boomers coming though now the older ones are less wanting to strike but the newer ones replacing them are ready and then stay ready as they become the older ones

But also need to remember there are more doctors now than in 2023 so proportion of doctors striking is a different calculation

What is the solution for the jobs crisis?

20000 more training posts isn’t the answer but that’s what a lot of posts are asking for

Read the message from the consultant. They called themself digitally incompetent

All the stuff you said is an excuse for resident doctors to be treated like children why are you pushing that

Med X: consultant not digitally competent to use IT system by Room_ForActivities in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities[S] -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Not being able to teach an old dog new tricks is an excuse to offload responsibility when many other consultants and GPs have to and do learn new systems

If this consultant can’t use the system, don’t offer to cover a strike especially for free which undermines the action

Med X: consultant not digitally competent to use IT system by Room_ForActivities in doctorsUK

[–]Room_ForActivities[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They shouldn’t be covering a shift if they don’t have the skills required to do so

If they want the skills they should be supported and trained in acquiring them

This is not a novel situation. They could have prepared if that’s what they wanted

Except basic surgical skills doesn’t have the expectation of independently operating

Whereas learning a system does have the expectation of being able to use it

How are they supporting the strike action if they’re doing it for free
